Collect&Go switches to digital cash registers, saving 16 tons of paper

Collect&Go, Colruyt Group's online shopping service, has started rolling out a mobile cash register system. In the coming months, all 208 existing collection points will be equipped with new software and mobile payment terminals. All collection points will be switched by the end of October. This is another step in Collect&Go's digital progress. Tests in 5 collection points over the past few months have shown that the new POS system saves time when picking up groceries. Moreover, customers now receive their cash register digitally. In this way, Collect&Go achieves a paper saving of 16 tons.

Making shopping even easier

Collect&Go wants to make shopping easier for customers. That's why the online shopping service continues to invest in services that can make the collection process even more efficient. A new mobile cash register system, developed in collaboration with software specialist AXI, will be installed on every employee's task device, resulting in more flexibility at the Collect&Go collection point.

The test project in 5 Collect&Go collection points during spring confirms the efficiency and time gains. Because collection and payment can now be arranged via an application on the mobile device, more customers can be helped at the same time, and it also runs faster. In this way, peak moments at the pick-up point can be better handled. Tom Deprater, responsible for Collect&Go, indicates: "Both customers and employees are enthusiastic about the benefits of the new system".

16 tons of paper savings

From now on, Collect&Go customers will receive their cash register digitally. "The receipt will be forwarded to our customers by e-mail. Even before they have left the collection point, most of our customers will already have the receipt in their mailbox," Tom Deprater says. Customers will be informed about this change in the collection point itself and via e-mail. Moreover, the switch to a digital cash register system will result in a considerable paper saving of 16 tons every year.

In order to obtain the discounts, it will no longer be necessary to hand in the Xtra card at the collection point, as the discounts are already settled when the order is placed. Customers can pay with Bancontact, electronic meal vouchers or the Xtra card or app. In the coming months, all 208 existing collection points will be equipped with new software and mobile payment terminals. All Collect&Go collection points will be switched by the end of October.
