Revamped Okay Boutersem to reopen as a sustainable local supermarket on 12 July

With revamped freshmart, additional cooling cabinets and renovated checkout area

On Friday 12 July, Okay Boutersem reopens its doors after undergoing a thorough facelift. The 650 m² local supermarket on Leuvensesteenweg has been renovated in the style of the latest generation of Okay stores, with a refurbished and enlarged freshmart, additional cooling cabinets and a renewed checkout environment, making shopping even easier at Okay Boutersem. During the renovation, considerable efforts were made to minimise the environmental footprint. Store manager Manon Buelens and her team look forward to welcoming back their customers.

Focus on fresh products and daily fresh bread

The fresh and modern look of Okay Boutersem is designed to help customers find their way around the varied fresh products range. "In the freshmart, the wide aisles ensure a pleasant shopping experience. It's easy to choose from our ample offer of fruit and vegetables, dairy, meat, cold cuts, fish and ready-made meals, all tasty and fresh like you are used to at Okay," store manager Manon explains. "Right outside the freshmart, we've also installed additional cooling cabinets, offering an extensive choice of meat, fish and vegetarian appetisers to enjoy with family or friends. Even the checkout area received an overhaul with a fresher look."

In Okay Boutersem, the store personnel bakes off delicious bread, breakfast rolls and buns on site, which are all neatly and orderly displayed in the well-organised bread corner.

All these novelties and improvements contribute to a more pleasant shopping experience and make shopping even more efficient. "And every day, a great team of 16 motivated employees is ready to help our customers. With a smile. All of them local people, for whom customer friendliness, good service and helpfulness always come first,” Manon proudly says.

Minimal environmental impact

Like the other Colruyt Group store formats, Okay is firmly committed to building sustainably and with a minimal ecological footprint. No gas or fuel oil is used at Okay Boutersem. The store's eco-friendly cooling emits 90% less CO2 than traditional cooling installations. In addition, the heat released by the cooling and ventilation system is recovered to heat the store.

Easy to reach by car, by bicycle or on foot

Okay Boutersem is very conveniently located on Leuvensesteenweg, and is easily reachable for everyone. The spacious and easily accessible car park offers room for 75 vehicles and has four charging stations for electric vehicles. Bicycles, even cargo bikes, can be safely put away in the bicycle shed.
