Colruyt Group highlights employees in campaign to attract 900 new talents

Major Belgian employer continues to recruit despite current economic climate marked by job losses

Despite an economic reality in which job losses in our country make the headlines almost on a daily basis, Colruyt Group continues to recruit and has therefore launched a new eye-catching recruitment campaign. With this campaign, in which its own employees play a leading role, Colruyt Group highlights the great diversity of fields of expertise and job opportunities. Colruyt Group is much more than just shops: technicians, supply chain experts, IT specialists and data analysts are just a few of the 900 profiles the group is looking for.

Colruyt Group seeks 900 new colleagues

The new campaign launched last week aims to show that Colruyt Group is much more than just shops. The vacancies can be divided into open jobs for central services, including IT, data analysis, finance, marketing, HR, purchasing and technical and engineering positions, as well as quite a few vacancies in logistics and production. Belgium's largest retailer also continues to look for employees in the stores, mainly in the country's major cities. People with managerial potential are also actively sought across all departments. ‘With this new campaign, Colruyt Group is highlighting the diversity of disciplines and job opportunities. We also want to draw attention to our corporate culture, which is future-oriented and above all: about people,’ says Liesbeth Sabbe, HR director at Colruyt Group.

Real employees are looking for new colleagues

Under the motto ‘Doedemee?/ ‘S’en charge!’, Colruyt Group consciously chooses to put its own employees in the picture. The new poster campaign started on Monday 23 September and can be seen in bus shelters and soon in the country's major railway stations (Brussels, Ghent Sint-Pieters and Antwerp). Other initiatives, particularly on social media, will be launched in the coming weeks.

Mallaurie Cornez (31) from Mons region is one of the employees featured in the campaign. Mallaurie is now Product Group Manager, and she started her career as a student at Colruyt Lowest Prices. By taking part in the campaign, she hopes to encourage everyone to make the move to Colruyt Group: ‘I started as a student, then I worked in logistics and IT and now I have a brand new position. This is actually a great illustration of the growth opportunities Colruyt Group offers. In all my positions, I have been able to count on the support and training that have enabled me to develop and grow within the company’, Mallaurie explains.

The face of Fadi Alsuliman, who works at Colruyt Lowest Prices in Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe, also appears on posters in the country's major railway stations, among others. He is proud of his job and therefore did not hesitate to participate: ‘I have been working at Colruyt for a year now. Right from the start, I have noticed that my manager is always willing to listen. And my motivation has not gone unnoticed: in six months I became the shop's Collect&Go manager. I also get the chance to attend training courses and learn new things about my job, but also on a personal level. These trainings help me continue to grow and learn new skills’, says Fadi.

‘To the extent that employees grow, the company grows as well’

At Colruyt Group, we are convinced that if our employees grow, so does the company. Training is therefore an important element in that evolution. Last year, we invested 40.8 million euros’, indicates Liesbeth Sabbe. Development and growth are also visible in the figures for internal mobility. Last year, 3,225 employees changed jobs within the group and received support for this job change. This was the case for Mallaurie Cornez, who has held a new position within the group since 9 months: ‘I was not afraid to change jobs completely, because I knew I would be supported by Colruyt Group and my colleagues.’

Besides the training aspect, Colruyt Group also attaches great importance to the health and well-being of all employees. Given the diversity of fields and functions, the company therefore concentrates on a wide range of solutions such as ergonomics, sports sessions offered at the various sites, medical visits or even personal development sessions.

Another remarkable fact, also this year Colruyt Group honoured no fewer than 645 employees for long careers within the company. That special attention went to employees who have been with the company for 25, 30, 35 or 45 years.
