Reopening of Colruyt Waremme: a refurbished store focused on sustainable choices

Monday, July 29, 2024

On Wednesday 31 July 2024, Colruyt Lowest Prices in Waremme will be reopening its doors after several weeks of refurbishment works. The self-service butcher’s section has been completely refurbished, the bread section modernised and the parapharmaceutical range extended. During the refurbishment, particular attention was paid to the customer experience and the sustainability of the infrastructure.

Optimised store and modernised butcher’s section

With an optimised shelf layout and 1,749 m² of retail space, customers at Colruyt Waremme are sure to find their shopping even more enjoyable and efficient. Store Manager Salvino Argento explains: “By grouping charcuterie and meat in the butcher’s section, we’ve saved space in the fresh market. As a result, customers can find around 150 new products there. In the butcher’s section, the self-service counter has been replaced by closed, transparent refrigerators, which emit less CO2. Customers can see our butchers at work in an open butcher’s area, which makes it easier to communicate with them if they have any questions or want to place specific orders.” The store also has a more modern bread section and an extended parapharmaceutical range.

Book your shopping with Collect&Go

The Collect&Go pick-up point at Colruyt Waremme is also reopening its doors. Collect&Go is a handy shopping service provided by Colruyt Group. Customers submit their shopping list at collectandgo.be or on the Xtra app. Co-workers then prepare their products at the collection point, ready for the day and time of the customer’s choosing.

Special focus on sustainability

Colruyt has also invested in sustainability when renovating its Waremme store. The building is fully equipped with LED lighting and motion detectors, providing energy savings of 30%. It also features a heat recovery system for the heat produced by the refrigerators, while solar panels supply the store with green electricity. All these measures enable Colruyt to optimise its energy consumption and reduce its carbon footprint. Finally, the car park is equipped with one charging point for two electric vehicles and five extra-large bicycle racks for bicycles or cargo bikes.

Open evening on Tuesday 30 July

Store Manager Salvino Argento concludes: “Along with my team of 31 co-workers and 12 butchers, we just can’t wait to welcome our customers back. We’re inviting customers to a sneak preview of the refurbished store at our open evening on Tuesday 30 July, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Everyone’s welcome!
