Collect&Go launches new service that makes grocery shopping even easier

Customers order groceries and can choose between home delivery or same-day collection in refrigerated lockers

Thursday, May 23, 2024

Collect&Go, Colruyt Group’s online shopping service, is testing a new service in Ghent. Starting today, customers can do their online shopping and have it delivered to their home the same day or collect it themselves in specially designed refrigerated lockers. Collecting groceries in refrigerated lockers is a supermarket first in Belgium. Collect&Go joins hands with Okay, Colruyt Group’s neighbourhood supermarket, for this purpose. Okay takes charge of the range, which focuses on fresh produce. Collect&Go thus further expands their service to meet the different and changing needs of customers.

Refrigerated lockers: supermarket first in Belgium

Collect&Go further expands its range of shopping services with the launch of a brand-new service: starting today, customers in Ghent can order from Collect&Go for same-day delivery/collection. Those who place an order via the website vandaag.collectandgo.be

before 1 p.m. can pick up their products as from 3 p.m. onwards in a refrigerated locker or have them delivered to their home by a cargo bike from 4 p.m. onwards. Collecting groceries in a refrigerated locker is still a unique feature in Belgium. The lockers are permanently refrigerated at 4°C to ensure optimum quality. Products are never in the locker more than four hours before the selected time slot for the same reason.

With the new service, Collect&Go targets customers looking for a quick solution for their fresh groceries. These include people who do weekly shopping, for example, but need fresh produce in between. But it could just as easily be customers who want to put fresh produce on the table last minute. Leen De Dobbeleer, Head of Innovation at Collect&Go: “We see that our customers in the city are less likely to do major shopping and so they are more likely to visit a neighbourhood store several times a week. Customers who live more in rural areas, in turn, need fresh produce in the middle of the week. We are now testing a quick and easy solution for both target groups: to either pick up their products or have them delivered to their homes at a time that suits them best. This service complements our catalogue of services so that our customers can go shopping in a way that’s even better and more tailored to them.”

1,200 fresh and essential products

Customers can use the brand-new service to choose products from a carefully selected and wide range of 1,200 products. The focus here is on fresh produce, meat, fish, and convenience, which account for about 60% of the range. It also offers dry foods and a small range of non-food products. Here, the focus is on ‘in a pinch’ products, such as shampoo or washing-up liquid.

The range includes products from national brands and house brands, all from Okay’s range. Leen De Dobbeleer: “We created this range together with Okay, opting for a good balance between products that people need on a regular basis and a user-friendly range that you can easily scroll through when ordering. We want speed and efficiency to flow through the entire shopping mission: from the moment your order is placed to the moment it arrives in the locker or at your door.”

Okay not only provides the range, but also the delivery of the products. Specifically, Okay personnel will ensure that groceries are in the refrigerated lockers at the right time. Because of the type of shopping and the fact that they must fit in a locker, a minimum order value of €20 applies, as well as a maximum order value of €100.

Ghent, Gentbrugge, Heusden, and Melle are first in line

Collect&Go is testing this brand-new service in the Ghent region. Home delivery is possible in Ghent (postcode 9000) and Gentbrugge (postcode 9050) and customers pay €4.99 for it. Those who order before 1 p.m. will get their groceries delivered to their homes between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on the same day, Monday to Saturday.

Collecting groceries in the refrigerated lockers costs €2.49 and the lockers are at Okay Heusden (Laarnebaan 75) and at Colruyt Group Academy Melle (Brusselsesteenweg 157).

Customers who order before 1 p.m. can collect their groceries from the lockers that same day between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m., Monday to Saturday. Groceries can also be ordered easily after 1 p.m., for delivery or collection the following day. You can read more about Colruyt Group and its growth in cities on our website:
