36th Bio-Planet opens its doors in Zottegem

Excellence in sustainability and source of inspiration for customers

Tuesday, May 7, 2024

Bio-Planet is opening a new store in Zottegem on Wednesday 8 May. This is the 36th store in Belgium, clear proof that this organic supermarket chain intends to make organic and eco-friendly products more easily available and continue to inspire a transition to conscious consumerism and to do so with genuinely high-quality products and high-quality stores.

New store at familiar location

The new Bio-planet store, opening at the same location as what used to be Louise Delhaize in Zottegem, is the perfect destination for those looking for organic and ecological products. It is the first Bio-Planet to open its doors after the acquisition of the Match, Smatch and Louis Delhaize stores by Colruyt Group. The store in Zottegem was prepared for opening in only five weeks’ time – an accomplishment of which Bio-Planet can rightfully be proud. Considerable effort was devoted to reusing as much as possible of the furnishings in the old store in order to create the Bio-Planet look & feel with as many existing materials as possible. Customers can now enjoy a wide selection of organic fruits and vegetables, fresh bread, meat, cheese and cold cuts, among other products. Bio-Planet also offers quite a few vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free products.

Store manager Katrijn Claeys already worked for Bio-Planet, but is now ready with her team of four employees to receive customers and show them around the new 771 m² store. The team is made up of a combination of employees who already worked for Bio-Planet and those who worked at the former Louis Delhaize.

“I’m tremendously proud that we’ve been able to create a shopping environment so quickly whilst also using a considerable amount of the existing furnishings. A shopping environment that moreover truly reflects our values and inspires our customers to make the transition to conscious consumerism.”

Katrijn Claeys, Store Manager

Familiar product range

Bio-Planet is dedicated to genuinely high-quality products in truly high-quality stores. On entering the store, customers already have a great example of this in their hands: the shopping baskets are made of recycled polypropylene derived from plastic waste and used fishing nets from our oceans. There is also a strong focus on package-free products, i.e. items that are available in bulk. Not only does Bio-Planet offer its wide range of fruits and vegetables in bulk, but also nuts, cereals and dried fruits that customers can scoop into cups or canisters that can be purchased from Bio-Planet. Of course customers can also bring their own containers.

Among the sweet and savoury snacks in bulk, enthusiasts will find dried raspberries, chocolate and trail mix. Coffee beans are also available in bulk. There is a choice of three origins: Nicaragua, Ethiopia and Colombia. The goals is to reduce unnecessary packaging and encourage package-free consumption.

What else you can expect

At Bio-Planet Zottegem, you can also browse a range of ecological care products and natural cosmetics in the health & beauty corner.

And for those looking for a nice last-minute gift, the store at Buke 20 has just what you need: discover the gift baskets full of high-quality products and combine them with flowers and a gift card or put together your own basket.

Prefer to do your grocery shopping online? No problem! Customers can easily reserve and pick up their organic groceries at Bio-Planet Zottegem via Collect&Go.
