The completely refurbished OKay Bois-de-Villers reopens its doors in a sustainable building

On Friday 18 December, the OKay store at Bois-de-Villers reopens its doors after massive interior renovation work. The store was brushed up in the second-generation style of local OKay supermarkets. It now has a new bakery corner and new freezers, and it will also be equipped with a Collect&Go pick-up point in 2021. Thanks to this transformation, the store of Bois-de-Villers reduces its environmental footprint and offers its customers the latest services.

Extra services for the customer

The OKay store at Bois-de-Villers has more than one new asset. The bakery corner is larger and more ergonomic for sales employees, but for customers as well. The frozen products department received new freezers with glass covers to make choosing products easier and quicker. "Early 2021, customers will also be able to pick up products from the Colruyt assortment, which they reserve on the site of collectandgo.be, at the new Collect&Go pick-up point", store manager Samuel Rolland explains.

A modern layout radiating freshness

The OKay store of Bois-de-Villers closed its doors for one month in order to carry out the renovations. The store has a surface of 638 m² and a modern layout radiating freshness. "We can now serve our customers even better and emphasize our strong points", Samuel specifies. "Our freshmart was completely changed to highlight our broad range of fresh fruit and vegetables more. Fresh bread is delivered every day and our co-workers bake top quality buns, rolls and pastries in the renovated bakery corner." The checkout was also entirely revamped to improve the service. And finally, the car park was enlarged and can now welcome 71 cars.

Sustainable construction

During the renovation of the OKay store of Bois-de-Villers, much attention went to sustainable insulation, ventilation, lighting, refrigeration and heating. The store does not use any fossil fuels. "We have carefully considered the way in which to make our store as sustainable as possible", Samuel Rolland explains. "In each step of the transformation process, we chose the most sustainable solution. The cooling system now works on propane for instance, emitting about 90 % less greenhouse gasses than a classic system." And this is not the only improvement. The LED lighting makes it possible to reduce electricity consumption by30 %. Moreover, the building is extremely well insulated. The ventilation system allows for recovering 75 % of room temperature.

Local accent

Samuel Rolland: "Over the years, we have gained loyal customers who are attached to our broad range of products and the friendliness of our co-workers, but also to the lowest prices in the area. My 16 co-workers, all living in the neighbourhood, and I intend to keep the same approach in our renovated store of course." »
