Jims, SPRS and PRIME launch largest physiotherapy network in Belgium
From fitness to healthness, with prevention, rehabilitation and exercise under one roof
Wednesday, September 3, 2025
Starting today, sports enthusiasts and people who are rehabilitating can rely on the expertise of physiotherapists in ten Jims locations in East and West Flanders. In the course of three years, that's 22 locations, each with four treatment rooms and a total of some sixty physiotherapists: together, they make up the largest physiotherapy network in the country. Under the impetus of Colruyt Group, Jims thus brings together prevention, rehabilitation and exercise in one place.
Prevention is better than cure. And rehabilitation? Ideally, you do it with a professional who shows you live which exercises help you to become the best possible physical version of you again. That's why Jims is joining forces with the well-known physiotherapy practice of top physiotherapist Frank Wezenbeek and now co-manager Benjamin Decloedt, the resident physiotherapists of football team KAA Gent and Gantoise Hockey, among others. Wezenbeek and Decloedt's team – that will be operating under the name of PRIME physio | Wezenbeek as from today – will open new treatment rooms in Jims Ghent Dok Noord, Deinze and Lokeren. In the next three years, they will continue to develop this operation in other Jims clubs in East Flanders.
In West Flanders, fitness specialist Jims is heavily expanding its structural collaboration with the trend-setting physiotherapy practice SPRS (Sports Performance Recovery Success). SPRS is the resident physiotherapist of the Belgian Cats, basketball club Kortrijk Spurs and football club Zulte Waregem, among others. Since September 2024, SPRS has had four treatment rooms in the Jims branches in Kortrijk and Kuurne. Today, the Waregem branch is added to those. By 2028, another handful of locations will follow.
Concretely for members
Jims' physiotherapy offer will be available at the branches in Deinze, Ghent Dok Noord, Kortrijk, Kuurne, Lokeren, and Waregem as from September. Nothing changes in the price for Jims members. On the contrary: they are free to book an appointment with one of the physiotherapists in the ten locations, who each have their own treatment room, under the same roof as their trusted fitness centre.
Preventing injury, the right equipment for rehabilitation
"The expansion? A logical decision", says Jelle Duthoit, physiotherapist at SPRS: "This past year, we've proven that rehabilitation and fitness are inextricably linked. This is a pure win-win: our patients are able to rehabilitate with the latest equipment, whereas sports enthusiasts at Jims can simply come to us for advice or guidance in case of injury."
Benjamin Decloedt of PRIME physio | Wezenbeek: "Our current locations in Melle and at Gantoise Hockey of course remain, but we see this collaboration as a unique opportunity. We get access to top-notch facilities, bring rehabilitation closer to athletes and are able to expand geographically." Co-manager Frank Wezenbeek adds: "This entirely new dynamic also creates the perfect time for a new name: Kinepraktijk Wezenbeek becomes 'PRIME physio | Wezenbeek', to reflect the evolution in our organisation and our wider scope."
"Professional and amateur athletes are more than welcome at our facilities, with the new sport season that is about to start", Pieterjan Nuitten, Managing Director at Jims, adds. "But choosing Jims is choosing more than just fitness.Together with our partners, we are building the largest integrated physio structure in Belgium. Our fitness locations will evolve into true health hubs, where prevention, rehabilitation and exercise go hand in hand. We see that the sector evolved from body building at the very beginning (with a focus on power) to fitness (cardio), then wellness (relaxation) and now healthness - with a focus on a healthy lifestyle, linked to a medical context."
"In terms of expansion? We now have ten Jims locations with physiotherapists and that number will increase to 22 in our country by 2028", says Nuitten. "Know that Jims has 83 clubs in Belgium and Luxembourg: ambitious physiotherapy practices are free to contact us in view of a possible collaboration."
Collaboration with hospitals also expands
The structural collaboration with physiotherapists fits in Jims' 'Exercise as medicine' philosophy. The chain was already working with the AZ Maria Middelares Ghent and AZ Sint Maria Halle hospitals. As from September, the Imelda hospital in Bonheiden, AZ Sint-Elisabeth Zottegem, AZ Alma Eeklo and AZ Zeno Knokke will join them. The aim: helping patients with a heart condition, obesity, or after cancer treatment, with a science-based rehabilitation at Jims. In concrete terms, training schedules are validated by doctors and Jims employees are trained at the hospital.
In recent years, the possibilities in the field of health at Colruyt Group - and its sub-brands such as Jims – have become increasingly concrete. Consumers are more and more concerned with their health. Moreover, food intolerances and allergies, obesity and diabetes are more widespread. Colruyt Group wants to offer an accessible and smart solution for this broad social challenge, with a focus on prevention. Together with sister brands such as the online pharmacy Newpharma, the health platform Yoboo, Colruyt Group Academy and Bio-Planet, Jims guides people towards a healthy lifestyle.
