Renewed Spar Colruyt Group in Eksaarde to open on 16 November

On Thursday 16 November, the Spar Colruyt Group store in Eksaarde will open its doors again in a brand new building. The store - which has been a hotspot in the village for almost 50 years - follows the style of the latest generation of Spar stores, with special attention for fresh and local products. Independent storekeeper Kevin De Storme and his team are already looking forward to letting customers sample the great customer service, a friendly shopping experience and the known Spar quality.
Completely refurbished store
See you at Eksaarde-dorp 44, where the trusted Spar Eksaarde will be opening its doors again from Thursday 16 November in a new building. The store is operated by independent storekeeper Kevin De Storme, who took over the Spar store from his parents. After thorough renovation and expansion work, Kevin and his team are happy to welcome their customers back to the friendly convenience store. Bigger, more sustainable and with even more fresh, delicious (local) products.
“When you have to go out onto the street to direct the traffic to and from the car park, you know something has to change,” smiles Kevin. “We had to buy three lots to piece everything together.” The result? A brand new store at the same trusted location, now with a floor area of 700 m2. The old store area is used for storage, warehouse, office and cold stores.
Even more focus on fresh and local products
The design of the new Spar neighbourhood supermarket in Eksaarde is all about customers' shopping convenience. “The presentation of the products will be much better and everything has its own spot in the new store.” The interior creates a feeling of openness and there's more room for the wide assortment of fresh products.
Kevin, born and bred in ‘Gezôarde’, feels very strongly about local products. “We try to offer a big assortment of local products,” he explains. “We sell honey, fruit juices and strawberries that come from our village.”
Trusted team
The Spar Eksaarde team includes several experienced and loyal workers, who have been welcoming customers personally for many years and help them with a smile. They have grown with the store over the years. “I've been here 10 years now, but my parents started the store 36 years ago and built it into what it is today,” says Kevin. “Several of our people have worked here for decades. Like our colleague Myriam who has been with us for 35 years already. She really is the figurehead of the store.” The customer friendliness, service and a warm, homely atmosphere are a strength.
Eye for quality and sustainability
An important aspect of Spar Colruyt Group is sustainability and Spar Eksaarde has followed this thinking. “We've invested in a CO2 installation for the refrigeration and floor heating via heat recovery.” The store also has solar panels.
Festive opening and great discounts
On Wednesday 15 November from 18.00 to 21.00 everyone is welcome to the festive opening reception. Customers can get to know the new store and enjoy a snack and a drink. And the special opening folder in the opening week features some great discounts.
