Renewed Okay Welle to reopen as a sustainable local supermarket on 7 February

With refurbished freshmart, additional cooling cabinets and renovated bread corner

On Wednesday 7 February, Okay Welle will reopen its doors after undergoing a thorough facelift. The local supermarket with a 650 m² store surface area has been renovated in the style of the latest generation of Okay stores, with a refurbished freshmart, additional cooling cabinets and a revamped checkout area, among other things. This makes shopping even easier at Okay Welle. During the renovation, considerable efforts were made to minimise the environmental footprint. Store manager Elsie Van Cotthem and her team look forward to welcoming their customers again.

Focus on fresh products and daily fresh bread

The fresh and modern design of Okay Welle helps customers find their way around the varied fresh products range. "In the freshmart, the broad passage ensures a pleasant shopping experience. It's easy to choose from our ample offer of fruit and vegetables, dairy, meat, cold sliced meat, fish and ready-made meals, tasty and fresh like you are used to at Okay", says store manager Elsie. "Right outside the freshmart, we've also installed some additional cooling cabinets, offering an extensive choice of meat, fish and vegetarian appetizers to enjoy with family or friends."

In Okay Welle, the store co-workers bake off quality bread, breakfast rolls and buns on site. Customers can easily find them in the well-organised bread corner. "The checkout area also received an overhaul making payment at the checkout even smoother and faster from now on," Elsie explains. "As from 19 February, customers can also pick up their Collect&Go order at our store."

All these novelties and improvements contribute to a more pleasant shopping experience and make shopping even more efficient. "And every day, a team of 14 motivated employees is ready to help our customers. With a smile. All of them people from the region, for whom customer friendliness, good service and helpfulness always come first.”

Minimal environmental impact

Like the other Colruyt Group store formats, Okay is firmly committed to building sustainably and with a minimal ecological footprint. No gas or fuel oil is used at Okay Welle. All energy is generated by our own solar panels and the store's eco-friendly cooling emits 90% less CO2 than conventional cooling installations. In addition, the heat released by the cooling and ventilation system is recovered to heat the store. The façade has been treated with special, air-purifying paint.

Easy to reach by car and bicycle

Okay Welle has a very practical location and is easily accessible to everyone. The spacious and practical car park has room for 62 vehicles and includes two charging stations for electric vehicles, and cargo bikes can also be safely secured in the bicycle shed.
