Renewed OKay Evergem reopens as a sustainable local supermarket on 30 September

With a refurbished freshmart and additional cooling cabinets.

On Friday 30 September, OKay Evergem reopens its doors after undergoing a thorough facelift. The local supermarket with a surface of 650 m² has been renovated in the style of the latest generation of OKay stores, with a refurbished freshmart, additional cooling cabinets and a revamped bread corner, among other things. Store manager Shirley Den Hert and her team are looking forward to welcoming their customers again.

Focus on fresh products and daily fresh bread

Thanks to the fresh and modern interior, customers of OKay Evergem can now find their way even more easily in the broad assortment of fresh products. "In the renewed freshmart our extensive assortment of fresh fruit and vegetables can stand out completely", says store manager Shirley. "We placed extra refrigeration units just outside the freshmart, so that we can showcase our tapas, cold sliced meat and pastries even better."

At OKay Evergem, fresh bread is delivered every day and store co-workers bake off high-quality rolls and pastries on the spot. "They are now even more neatly displayed in our renewed bread unit. Much more convenient for our customers", Shirley explains.

Top team from the region

All these novelties and improvements will contribute to a more pleasant shopping experience and make shopping even more efficient. But the biggest asset of OKay Evergem is undoubtedly the wonderful team of store co-workers. "Every day, I can count on a great team of 10 motivated co-workers. All of them people from the region, for whom customer friendliness, good service and helpfulness always come first.

Easy to reach by car and bicycle

OKay Evergem is located very practically, close to the R4 and easily accessible for everyone. The car park has room for 53 vehicles and cargo bikes can also be safely put away in the bicycle shed.

Minimal environmental impact

Just like the other Colruyt Group store formulas, OKay is firmly committed to building sustainably and with a minimal ecological footprint. No gas or fuel oil is used at OKay Evergem. The cooling system runs on propane, a natural coolant that is much more environment-friendly than chemical coolants and reduces CO2 emissions by 90%. Also, the heat released by the refrigeration system is recovered to heat the store.
