Okay Opens Sustainable Neighbourhood Supermarket in Groot-Bijgaarden

Also Open on Sunday Mornings

On Friday 14 November, the former Comarkt in Groot-Bijgaarden will reopen as the 148th Okay store. At this convenient local supermarket, located at 234 Robert Dansaertlaan, customers will find a wide range of products for every moment of the day. The store covers 673 m² and was built using sustainable techniques and material. Store Manager Michael Chrispeels and his ten-strong team at Okay Groot-Bijgaarden look forward to welcoming their new customers. The store will also be open on Sunday mornings from 8.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. From 2026 onwards, all Okay stores will be open on Sunday mornings.

Fresh and easy

The local supermarket is part of Colruyt Group's newest generation of Okay stores and features a fresh, modern design. Customers will find everything they need under one roof, from fresh meat, fish, and vegetarian options, to ready-made meals and salads. Customers can also stop by for newspapers, magazines, gift hampers, etc.

Fresh products are one of Okay's greatest strengths. "In our freshmart, the wide aisles make for a pleasant shopping experience. "Our broad selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, delivered daily, comes into its own here." And when you're planning a relaxed aperitif evening, we've got everything you need, whether you prefer meat, fish, or veggie bitessays store manager Michael.

At Okay Groot-Bijgaarden, fresh bread is delivered daily, and the team bakes off high-quality pastries and rolls several times a day. Michael: "Our bread corner is designed to be ergonomic and well-organised - very user-friendly, both for our customers and for our staff." In the frozen food section, chest freezers with glass lids make it easy for customers to quickly find their favourite products.

Promotions and Discounts

As always, Okay guarantees the lowest grocery prices in the neighbourhood. With the Xtra app, customers also enjoy additional promotions automatically when scanning their app at the checkout.

Minimal Environmental Impact

Like all other Colruyt Group store formats, Okay places a strong emphasis on sustainability and minimising environmental impact. "This store uses no gas or heating oil and is therefore completely free of fossil fuels,” Michael explains.
"We recover the heat generated by our refrigeration systems to warm the store — resulting in 90% less CO₂ emissions. Our eco-friendly cooling technology also produces 90% fewer emissions than a traditional system. And during heavy rainfall, we collect and buffer water to ease the load on the sewer system.”

Festive opening

The grand opening of Okay Groot-Bijgaarden will take place on 14 and 15 November. During these two days, customers can enjoy tastings galore and fantastic opening discounts.
