OKay Compact opens fourth establishment in Antwerp

On Wednesday 3 August, OKay Compact, the city store of local supermarket OKay, opens its 13th store. The retailer opted for Antwerp North, which means a fourth establishment in Antwerp. In the practical local supermarket, customers can find everything for quick, cheap, and easy daily shopping.

The store in the neighbourhood, of the neighbourhood

At OKay Compact, customers can do their daily shopping 7 days out of 7. Just like OKay, OKay Compact is a real neighbourhood supermarket, where you can do your groceries quickly, cheaply, and easily. The practical store is easily accessible by foot or by bicycle and has an extensive assortment of fresh products: vegetables and fruit, meat, fish, poultry, bread and pastries... And that is not all. In this brand new OKay Compact customers can choose from a broad offer of on-the-go products such as coffee, freshly pressed juices, sushi... and compose their own salad at the salad bar. In short: a wide choice and the ideal location for daily shopping or a tasty meal on the go!

City manager Everton Ribeiro will stand at the helm of this new OKay Compact. Together with his team, he will be ready to help everyone and answer all questions with pleasure and a smile.

Minimal environmental impact

Just like the other Colruyt Group store formats, OKay Compact is firmly committed to building sustainably and with a minimal ecological footprint. At OKay Compact Antwerp North, we do not use gas or fuel oil, the whole store operates on green electricity. In addition, the environmentally friendly cooling system emits 90% less CO₂ than traditional installations with chemical coolants. The heat released by the refrigeration is also used to heat the store. The ventilation system also recovers 75% of the heat. Energy-efficient LED lamps reduce power consumption by 30%.

About OKay Compact
​OKay Compact is the city concept of neighbourhood supermarket OKay. Traditional OKay stores are located along busy approach roads, close to town centres, while OKay Compact focusses on city centres. With an average surface of 350 m², the OKay Compact stores are smaller than a traditional OKay, where the average surface is 650 m². The assortment is somewhat more limited, although there are more on-the-go products, such as coffee, cooled beverages, and hot snacks. At OKay Compact, there are no shopping carts, only shopping baskets, to make the shopping go as smoothly and efficiently as possible. OKay Compact now has 13 stores, and the customer response is very positive. Neighbourhood supermarket OKay already has more than 140 branches, and in time sees potential for 180 stores.
