Okay City Opens its 25th Store in Belgium, in the Heart of Antwerp
Tuesday, May 5, 2026
On Wednesday 6 May, Okay City, the urban format of neighbourhood supermarket Okay – will open a new store in Lange Koepoortstraat in Antwerp. Customers will find everything they need for their daily shopping at guaranteed low prices, as prices are adjusted daily to match the prices and promotions of nearby supermarkets. This new location is the 7th Okay City store in Antwerp and the 25th in Belgium.
Fast and Easy Shopping in the City
Just like in all Okay stores, shopping at Okay City is always quick and easy. The urban stores are designed so that customers can find what they need even more quickly, all within walking or cycling distance of home or work. That is now also the case in Antwerp, in a brand-new 400 m² store. It offers customers a full range of everyday essentials: drinks, laundry and household products, and a wide selection of fresh products including fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, bread and pastries. Okay City Antwerp Lange Koepoortstraat is also the place to go for a quick coffee, a freshly prepared sandwich or a ready-to-eat meal.
Always Guaranteed Low Prices and Open 7 Days a Week
Okay City not only focuses on convenience, but also on helping customers manage their budget. That's why the chain compares its prices and promotions daily with those of nearby supermarkets and adjusts its own prices where necessary. This means Okay City customers benefit not only from strong promotions, but also from guaranteed low prices, without having to compare everything themselves.
"For people living nearby, we are the ideal stop on the way home. Tasty fresh fruit and vegetables, bread for the next morning, a quick solution for dinner ... Here, you will find everything in one place, always at an affordable price,” says city manager Michael De Geynst. Together with his team, he is ready to welcome all customers with a smile. And that 7 days a week, as the store is also open on Sundays and public holidays (from 8 a.m. to 7.30 p.m.).
Built Sustainably With an Eye on the Future
Like the other store formats within Colruyt Group, Okay City attaches great importance to sustainable construction and with the lowest possible environmental impact. The new Okay City in Antwerp is equipped with an environmentally friendly cooling system that emits 90% lessCO2 than traditional installations. The heat released by the cooling is also recovered to heat the store.
Colruyt Group Continues to Expand in Urban Areas
The opening of this new Okay City store fits perfectly within Colruyt Group's ambition to also offer more relevant retail store formats in urban environments, where consumers can shop easily and affordably. About Okay City
Okay City is the urban concept of neighbourhood supermarket Okay. Traditional Okay stores are located along busy access roads, close to village centres, while Okay City focuses specifically on city centres. With an average surface area of 350 m², Okay City stores are smaller than traditional Okay supermarkets, which average 650 m². The assortment is also differs slightly from that of Okay: there are more on-the-go products, such as coffee, chilled drinks and hot snacks. Okay City stores only use shopping baskets (no trolleys) to make shopping as quick and efficient as possible. Okay City has now 25 stores, with very positive customer feedback. Neighbourhood supermarket Okay has already more than 145 stores and sees potential to grow to 180 stores in the long term.
