The Spar store in Wanfercée-Baulet opened its doors on 14 March. This local supermarket on rue Franklin Roosevelt has swapped its old colours for those of the Spar brand. Independent entrepreneurs Sophie Bodocco and Joël Moreau and their team focus on a pleasant in-store experience and a wide range of quality products.
The new Spar store at 8 rue Franklin Roosevelt in Wanfercée-Baulet opened its doors on 14 March. You may recognise the address: there used to be another supermarket on this site. The previous brand’s entire team stayed on following the transition.
At the helm of Wanfercée-Baulet Spar are entrepreneurs Sophie Bodocco and her husband Joël Moreau. The family business was founded around 40 years ago by Sophie’s father, Christian. Ten years later, their store became the very first franchisee of their previous brand. Sophie started working here in 2002, and Joël in 2008, before taking over the reins. The transition happened very quickly: the store was closed for just one day, during which the in-store team and a team from Colruyt Group worked hand in hand to prepare for the opening. The product range was reorganised, new checkouts were installed, new price labels were created, and much more. It was challenging, but the result lived up to every expectation.
Quality of service and customer satisfaction are at the heart of everything the Wanfercée-Baulet Spar does. What’s more, customers can count on local service since the team of 12 permanent co-workers all come from the region, and most of them took their first steps in their working life as students there.
While nothing has changed for customers in terms of the store layout, the product range was reorganised during the transition to the Spar brand. Each department has seen its range expanded to include quality products from Colruyt Group’s house brands such as Boni Selection, Everyday, and Spar.
The store now also uses Xtra, an app that lets customers create a personal account for use in different Colruyt Group stores. Customers can take advantage of even better shopping deals, as well as easily drafting shopping lists, quickly consulting product information, and much more. Discounts and benefits are calculated automatically when customers present their app or Xtra card at checkout.
In addition to the usual Spar promos, there will also be a special opening day folder offering a host of benefits and discounts valid only at the Wanfercée-Baulet Spar during the week of 29 April.
