Spar Asper Reopens in Larger Store on Thursday 24 September

Independent retailers Ruben Volckaert and Ellen Dhooge are relocating their Spar store from Stationsstraat 32 to larger premises at number 162. From Thursday 24 September, they will welcome their customers to a refurbished store, offering a wider range of products and services. The relocation also marks the transition from a Spar Compact store to a full Spar Colruyt Group store.

From Spar Compact to Spar

The new store on Stationsstraat in Asper (Gavere) provides Ruben and Ellen with additional space to further expand their offering. At the same time, the store format is evolving: Spar Asper is moving from a Spar Compact store to a full Spar Colruyt Group store. As a result, customers will now also be able to take advantage of the promotions, special offers and benefits featured in the national Spar leaflet.

"We felt ready for this step and seized the opportunity," say Ruben and Ellen.

What remains unchanged are the trusted strengths of Spar Asper: its family-oriented atmosphere, friendly service and the personal approach. The store's extended opening hours will also remain the same. Spar Asper is open seven days a week, including Sunday afternoons.

More fresh and local products

A key focus of the refurbished store is its bakery department. The department is being expanded and equipped with new proofing cabinets, further strengthening Spar Asper's focus on quality and freshness.

For its meat range, the store will partner with Buurtslagers. Local products will also continue to feature prominently on the shelves, including Valeir beer and Breydel products.

Personal service remains at the heart of the store

As independent entrepreneurs, Ruben and Ellen will continue to be the familiar faces of Spar Asper, ensuring the store retains its welcoming family character.

"It's important to us that customers feel welcome here. We want to continue taking the time to help them. There should always be time for a question, a chat or friendly conversation."

Festive reopening

Everyone is welcome to join the festive opening reception on Wednesday 23 September, featuring a variety of refreshments and tastings. The store will officially reopen on Thursday 24 September.
