Revamped Colruyt Mersch to reopen on Wednesday 19/6

Colruyt Lowest Prices Mersch will reopen its doors on Wednesday 19 June 2024, after several weeks of renovation work. The butcher's section has been completely refurbished, the Collect&Go collection point expanded and the range of fresh produce in the fresh market upgraded. During the store renovation, particular attention was devoted to sustainability.

Optimised fresh market and modernised butcher's section

With an optimised shelf layout and 1 780 m² of retail space, Colruyt Mersch is sure to provide its customers with a more pleasant and efficient shopping experience. Store Manager Frédéric Lefebvre explains: "By bringing together charcuterie and meat in the butcher's section, we managed to save space in the fresh market for no fewer than 140 new references. The butcher's counter has also been replaced by closed, see-through refrigerators, which emit less CO2. Thanks to the open workshop, customers can see our butchers at work, making it easier for them to ask questions or place special orders."

The store also features a brand-new bread cabinet, with bread and baguettes baked on site.

Enlarged Collect&Go collection point

As it has been expanded, the Collect&Go collection point in Mersch will be able to accommodate even more customers. Collect&Go is Colruyt Group’s on-line shopping service. Customers submit their shopping list via collectandgo.be or the Xtra app, and co-workers have their products ready for them at the collection point by the day and time of their choice.

Strong focus on sustainability

Colruyt put sustainability at the heart of the renovation project in Mersch. The low-energy building has for instance been equipped with LED lighting controlled by motion detectors, cutting energy use by 30%. It also recovers heat from its refrigeration and ventilation units for heating purposes, saving nearly 75% in energy consumption. All these measures enable Colruyt to optimise its energy use and reduce its carbon footprint.

Open evening on Tuesday, 18 June

The store manager concludes: “My team of 22 co-workers, 7 butchers and I are looking forward to welcoming our customers. We would therefore like to invite them to a sneak preview of the refurbished store at our open evening on Tuesday, 18 June, from 5 to 8 p.m Everyone is welcome!” »
