Revamped Colruyt Marbais to reopen on Wednesday 22 May

Optimised fresh market and modernised butcher's shop

On Wednesday 22 May 2024, the Colruyt Lowest Prices store in Marbais will reopen its doors after several months of renovations. The butcher's shop has been completely refurbished, the bread cabinet modernised and the range of fresh produce in the fresh market upgraded. Sustainability was at the heart of the store renovations. In the car park, customers also have access to charging stations for their electric vehicles.

Optimised fresh market and modernised butcher's shop

With an optimised shelf layout and 1,800 m² of retail space, Colruyt Marbais is sure to provide its customers with a more pleasant and efficient shopping experience. Store manager Calogero Di Natale explains: "By grouping cold cuts and vegetarian products with the meat in the self-service butcher's shop, we managed to save space for 150 new references in the fresh market. The butcher's shop counter has also been replaced by closed, transparent refrigerators, which emit less CO2. Thanks to the open workshop, customers can see our butchers at work, making it easy for them to ask questions or place special orders."

The store also features a modernised bread cabinet.

Collect&Go still available

In Marbais, customers can still use the Collect&Go collection point in the store. Collect&Go is Colruyt Group’s on-line shopping service. They submit their shopping list via collectandgo.be or the Xtra app, and co-workers get their products ready at the collection point by their chosen day and time.

Special focus on sustainability

In Marbais as well, sustainability was at the forefront of the renovations. The store is equipped with LED lighting with motion detectors, saving a further 30% in energy. The building recovers heat emitted by the refrigeration and ventilation systems for heating purposes, saving almost 75% in energy consumption. The 131-space car park is equipped with three charging stations for electric vehicles.

Open evening on Tuesday 21 May

The store manager concludes: “My team of 26 co-workers, 9 butchers and I are excited to welcome our customers. We're inviting them to a sneak preview of the refurbished store at our open evening on Tuesday 21 May, from 5 pm to 8 pm. Everyone is welcome!”.
