Reopening of Colruyt in Frasnes: a refurbished store focused on sustainable choices

Optimised store and modernised butcher’s section

On Wednesday 28 February 2024, the Colruyt Lowest Prices store in Frasnes will reopen its doors on the Route de Lessines after some renovation works. The store has been completely refurbished, the butcher's section renovated and the bread stand modernised. The supermarket chain paid particular attention to sustainability when refurbishing its store. The icing on the cake is that customers will be able to use charging points in the car park to recharge their electric vehicles.

Optimised store and modernised butcher’s section

"With an optimised aisle layout and a revamped butcher's section, our customers will be able to enjoy a more pleasant and efficient shopping experience," store manager Mariane Van Herpe explains.

The self-service counter of the old butcher's section has been replaced by closed, transparent refrigerators. "Customers will also have a better overview of our range, as cold meats and spreads have been grouped together with meat. Finally, they’ll be able to see our butchers at work in an open workshop, which makes it easier to communicate with them if they have any questions or specific orders,” the store manager adds.

A focus on sustainability and mobility

Colruyt has also invested in sustainability when renovating its Fragnes store. The butcher’s section is equipped with sustainable refrigerators, which emit less CO2. The building recovers heat emitted by the refrigeration and ventilation systems to use for heating purposes, saving almost 75% in energy consumption. The 90-space car park is equipped with three charging points for three electric vehicles and four bicycle racks for the safe storage of eight bicycles or cargo bikes.

The evening of the opening

The store manager says: “Along with my team of 17 employees and five butchers, I can't wait to welcome our customers back. We're inviting them to take a sneak preview of the renovated store at our opening on the evening of Tuesday 27 February from 5 to 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome!”
