Reopening of Colruyt Hoogstraten: renovated store focused on sustainability

On Wednesday 9 July 2025, the Colruyt Lowest Prices store in Hoogstraten will reopen its doors. The store on Sint-Lenaartsweg has undergone renovations including a renewed butcher's department and a new bread unit. The store layout has also been optimised to make shopping even more pleasant and efficient — all at the lowest prices. Shoppers can once again pick up their groceries at the Collect&Go pick-up point. Sustainability was also a key focus during the renovation works. A team of 28 co-workers and 7 butchers are ready to welcome customers to the renewed store.

Optimised store layout and renewed butcher’s department

Shopping at Colruyt Hoogstraten is now even more pleasant and efficient thanks to the optimised shop layout, which spans nearly 1,500 m². Customers will notice a number of changes in the butcher’s department. For example, the selection of cold cuts has now been integrated into the updated butcher’s department. Just like the fresh meat, it is attractively displayed in closed, transparent refrigerators. Store manager Filip Verstappen: “Customers can find all their meat products — freshly prepared every day by our butchers — in one central area. They can also see the butchers at work in the open workshop, and easily approach them with any questions or special requests.” The bread unit was also upgraded to help preserve the quality of the fresh bread for longer and speed up checkout.

At the end of their visit, customers will notice that the checkouts and payment units have been lowered, making it easier to speak with co-workers in the open checkout area.

Welcome back to Collect&Go

Customers who prefer to pick up their groceries directly can do so at the Collect&Go point in Colruyt Hoogstraten. Collect&Go is Colruyt Group’s convenient online grocery service. Customers simply send their shopping list via collectandgo.be or the Xtra app. Co-workers then prepare the order for the selected time slot[HV1] . Customers can also opt for home delivery, using Drivers—local private couriers from the area.

Extra focus on sustainability

Sustainable building is a key priority for Colruyt Group, and it was central to the renovation of Colruyt Hoogstraten. The lighting was replaced with energy-efficient LED lamps equipped with motion sensors, cutting energy use by up to 30%. As for heating, 75% of the residual heat from the refrigeration system is recovered via the ventilation system. Sustainability is also applied in the car park: there are 8 new and extra-wide bicycle stands, and a brand-new charging area for electric vehicles with 3 fast chargers (6 cars) and 1 regular charger (2 cars).

Festive reopening on Tuesday 8 July

Store manager Filip Verstappen: “Together with my team of 28 co-workers and 7 butchers, I look forward to welcoming our customers once again. That starts on Tuesday evening already, as they’ll get an exclusive preview of the store with drinks and snacks. We’ll have tasters ready to enjoy.”
