Reopening of Colruyt Bree: renovated store focused on sustainability

On Wednesday 18 June 2025, the Colruyt Lowest Prices store in Bree will reopen its doors. The store on Regenboogstraat now features a revamped butcher’s department and a brand-new bread unit. The store layout has also been optimised to make shopping even more pleasant and efficient — all at the lowest prices. Customers can once again collect their groceries at the renewed and expanded Collect&Go collection point. Sustainability was also a key focus during the renovation works. A team of 37 store co-workers and 10 butchers are ready to welcome customers to the new-look store.

Optimised store layout and renewed butcher’s department

Shopping at Colruyt Bree is now even more enjoyable and efficient thanks to the improved store layout, which covers 2,250 m² of retail space. Customers will notice a number of changes in the butcher’s department. For example, the range of sliced meat is now part of the renovated butcher’s department. Just like the fresh meat, it is neatly presented in closed, transparent refrigerators. Store Manager Roy Meerten: “Customers can find all their meat products — freshly prepared every day by our butchers — in one central area. They can also see the butchers at work in the open workshop, and easily approach them with any questions or special requests.”

The bread unit was also upgraded to help preserve the quality of the fresh bread for longer and speed up checkout.

Welcome back to Collect&Go

Those who prefer to collect their groceries can do so at the refurbished and expanded Collect&Go point at Colruyt Bree. Collect&Go is Colruyt Group’s convenient online grocery service. Customers simply send their shopping list via collectandgo.be or the Xtra app. Our co-workers then prepare the order to be picked up at the selected time.

Extra focus on sustainability

Sustainable building is a key priority for Colruyt Group, and it played an important role in the renovation of Colruyt Bree. The lighting was replaced with energy-efficient LED lamps equipped with motion sensors, cutting energy use by up to 30%. As for heating, 75% of the residual heat from the refrigeration system is recovered via the ventilation system. In the car park, sustainability also takes shape through 10 new and extra-wide bicycle racks and a charging point for electric vehicles.

Festive reopening on Tuesday 17 June

Store Manager Roy Meerten: “Together with my team of 37 store co-workers and 10 butchers, I’m looking forward to welcoming our customers back. That starts on Tuesday evening already, as they’ll get an exclusive preview of the store with drinks and snacks. We’ll have tasters ready to enjoy.”
