Reopening Colruyt Wondelgem: revamped store with sustainability at heart

Monday, September 29, 2025

On Wednesday 1 October 2025, the Colruyt Lowest Prices store in Wondelgem will reopen its doors. The store located on Botestraat now features a revamped butcher’s department and a brand-new bread cabinet. The store layout has also been optimised to make shopping even more enjoyable and efficient — all at the lowest prices. Customers can again pick up their groceries at the Collect&Go pick-up point. Sustainability was also a key focus throughout the renovation works. A team of 44 store co-workers and 9 butchers are ready to welcome customers to the renovated store.

Optimised store layout and renewed butcher’s department

Shopping at Colruyt Wondelgem is now even more enjoyable and efficient thanks to the optimised layout covering approximately 2,100 m2 of retail space. Customers will notice several improvements in the butcher’s department. For example, the charcuterie range is now fully integrated in the revamped butcher’s department. Store manager Jolien Van Hoydonck: “Customers will find their meat products, carefully prepared daily by our butchers, all in one place. They can also see the butchers at work in the open workshop, and easily approach them with questions or special orders.” The bread cabinet has also been updated to ensure the quality of our freshly baked bread and to speed up checkout.

Collect&Go orders: quick pick-up or home delivery

Customers who prefer to pick up their groceries directly can do so at the Collect&Go piick-up point at Colruyt Wondelgem. Collect&Go is Colruyt Group's convenient online shopping service. Customers simply send their shopping list via collectandgo.be or the Xtra app. Our co-workers then prepare the order to be picked up at the selected time slot. Customers can also opt for home delivery, using Drivers—local private couriers from the area.

Extra focus on sustainability

Sustainable construction is a key priority for Colruyt Group, and it was front and centre during the renovation of Colruyt Wondelgem. The store is equipped with energy-efficient LED lighting with motion sensors, saving up to 30% in energy consumption. As for heating, the store recovers up to 75% of residual heat from the refrigeration system via the ventilation system. In addition, solar panels on the roof generate part of the store’s own energy needs. Sustainability is also reflected in the car park, with 8 newly installed extra-wide bicycle racks and 5 charging points for electric vehicles.
