Reopening Colruyt Winterslag: renovated store focused on sustainability
Monday, September 22, 2025
The Colruyt Lowest Prices store in Winterslag will reopen its doors on Wednesday 24 September 2025. After three months of thorough renovation work, the store on Vennestraat looks brand new. The entrance and checkouts have been moved to the other side of the building, and the entire shopping route has been optimised, making it even more pleasant and efficient for customers to shop at the lowest prices. The renewed butcher’s department and new bakery stand out, as does the expanded fresh market. At the upgraded Collect&Go pickup point, many more customers can now collect their groceries or have them delivered to their homes by Drivers, private delivery partners from the neighbourhood. Sustainability was a key focus throughout the works. A team of 32 employees and 7 butchers is ready to welcome customers to the renovated store.
Optimised store layout and renewed butcher’s department
Shopping at Colruyt Winterslag is now even more enjoyable thanks to the optimised layout, covering approximately 1,750 m² of retail space. Customers will notice several changes in the butcher’s department. The charcuterie range has been integrated into the revamped butcher’s shop. Store manager Kristoffer Riem: “Customers will now find all their meat products—prepared fresh daily by our butchers—in one place. They can also see the butchers at work in the open workshop and easily approach them with questions or special requests.” The bread unit has also been upgraded to preserve the freshness of the bread for longer and speed up checkout.
Welcome back to Collect&Go
Customers who prefer to pick up their groceries directly can do so at the Collect&Go point in Colruyt Winterslag. Collect&Go is Colruyt Group’s convenient online grocery service. Customers simply send their shopping list via collectandgo.be or the Xtra app. Our co-workers then prepare the order to be picked up at the selected time. Customers can also opt for home delivery, using Drivers—local private couriers from the area.
Extra focus on sustainability
Sustainable building is a key priority for Colruyt Group, and it was central to the renovation of Colruyt Winterslag. The lighting has been replaced with energy-efficient LED lamps equipped with motion sensors, cutting energy use by up to 30%. As for heating, 75% of the residual heat from the refrigeration system is recovered via the ventilation system. Rainwater is collected and used for cleaning and flushing the toilets. Sustainability also extends to the car park, with 10 newly installed extra-wide bicycle racks and 10 charging points for electric vehicles.
Festive reopening on Tuesday on September 23
Store manager Kristoffer Riem: “Together with my team of 32 co-workers and 7 butchers, I look forward to welcoming our customers once again. That starts on Tuesday evening already, as they’ll get an exclusive preview of the store with drinks and snacks. We’ll have tasters ready to enjoy.”
