Reopening Colruyt Waregem: renovated store focused on sustainability
Monday, September 15, 2025
On Wednesday 17 September 2025, the Colruyt Lowest Prices store in Waregem will reopen its doors. The store on Noorderlaan now features a revamped butcher’s department and a brand-new bread unit. The store layout has also been optimised to make shopping even more pleasant and efficient — all at the lowest prices. Shoppers can once again pick up their groceries at the Collect&Go pick-up point. Sustainability was also a key focus during the renovation works. A team of 58 store co-workers and 10 butchers are ready to welcome customers to the renovated store.
Optimised store layout and renewed butcher’s department
Shopping at Colruyt Waregem is now even more pleasant and efficient, thanks to an optimised store layout that spans nearly 2,500 m². Customers will notice a few changes in the butcher’s department. For example, the selection of cold cuts has now been integrated into the updated butcher’s department. Just like the fresh meat, it is attractively displayed in closed, transparent refrigerators. Tony Vermarcke: “Customers can find all their meat products — freshly prepared every day by our butchers — in one central area. They can also see the butchers at work in the open workshop and easily approach them with any questions or special requests.” The bread unit was also upgraded to help preserve the quality of the fresh bread for longer and speed up check-out.
At the end of their visit, customers will notice that the check-outs and payment units have been lowered, making it easier to speak with co-workers in the open checkout area.
Welcome back to Collect&Go
Customers who prefer to pick up their groceries directly can do so at the Collect&Go point in Colruyt Waregem. Collect&Go is Colruyt Group’s convenient online grocery service. Customers simply send their shopping list via collectandgo.be or the Xtra app. Our co-workers then prepare the order to be picked up at the selected time. Customers can also opt for home delivery, using Drivers—local private couriers from the area.
Extra focus on sustainability
Sustainable building is a key priority for Colruyt Group, and it was central to the renovation of Colruyt Waregem. The lighting was replaced with energy-efficient LED lamps equipped with motion sensors, cutting energy use by up to 30%. As for heating, 75% of the residual heat from the refrigeration system is recovered via the ventilation system. In addition, the store generates its own energy thanks to solar panels on the roof. Sustainability is also put into practice in the parking lot. There are 16 updated and extra-wide bike racks, good for 32 bikes. There is also a charging station for 2 cars in the parking lot, which has 209 parking spaces.
Festive reopening on Wednesday on September 17
Store Manager Tony Vermarcke: “Together with my team of 58 store co-workers and 10 butchers, I look forward to welcoming our customers with some refreshments. In addition to our well-known tasters, plenty of other products will be available to sample. We warmly invite everyone to come and discover the store – we’re ready to help!”
