Reopening Colruyt Kalmthout: renovated store focused on sustainability

On Wednesday, 20 November 2024, the Colruyt Lowest Prices store in Kalmthout will reopen its doors. The store on Kapellensteenweg now has an optimised shopping route, a renewed butcher's section and an extended assortment of over 1,400 products.Additionally, sustainability was a major focus during the renovation. Customers can now enjoy an even more pleasant shopping experience at Colruyt Kalmthout or pick up their groceries at the renewed Collect&Go collection point—and that, all at the lowest prices, as always.

Renewed butcher's section

Shopping at Colruyt Kalmthout is now even more pleasant and efficient thanks to the optimised shopping route, which covers no less than 2,263 m² of store space. Head butcher Francis Vervaeke explains: “The butcher's section has been expanded to over 100 m². We have placed fresh fish, vegetarian options and cold cuts from the fresh market alongside the meat products, so customers can make easy and convenient choices. Thanks to the open workshop, our butchers are also easily approachable for questions or for special orders." The fresh market itself also has been significantly expanded to 308 m².

Welcome back to Collect&Go

In Kalmthout, customers can once again use the renewed and expanded Collect&Go collection point. Collect&Go is Colruyt Group's convenient online shopping service. Customers submit their shopping lists via collectandgo.be, the Xtra app or the Collect&Go app, and co-workers then prepare their orders for collection at the collection point at the time chosen by the customer.

Sustainability all the way

The Kalmthout store is equipped with energy-saving LED lighting throughout, controlled by sensors to save up to 30% on energy. The residual heat from the cooling system is recovered and as much as 75% is reused by the ventilation system to heat the store. Rainwater is used to flush the toilets, and solar panels on the roof generate green energy. The outdoor car park features 20 upgraded, extra-wide bike racks, where approximately 40 (cargo) bikes can be securely and easily locked. Electric vehicle drivers can charge their cars at one of the ten available charging points while they shop.

Open House on Tuesday 19 November

Store manager Raymond Vandenbroeck says: “The whole team of 51 store employees and eight butchers is looking forward to welcoming our customers back. We invite them to be the first to discover the renewed store at our open house evening on Tuesday, 19 November, from 5 to 8 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there!”
