Renovated Spar Paal opens its doors on 3 June

The renovated Spar Colruyt Group store in Paal reopens on Thursday 3 June. The supermarket had a thorough makeover with special attention for sustainability and sociability. The result: a pleasant shopping experience with heaps of space and a broad range of fresh products. Spar Paal is certainly worth a visit for its friendly service and delicious homemade specialities.

23 years of history

Doing business is in Frie Voeten's genes. In 1998, she opened her supermarket in the centre of Paal. "In 2019 we definitively chose the Spar flag and I am still happy about that decision," Frie explains. "The professional support of Spar Colruyt Group gives us the opportunity to grow and improve. We are making great progress in shopping experience and the supply of fresh products. With this radical renovation, we are playing the card of the future."

Fresh and modern look

Spar Paal was thoroughly renovated and received a fresh, modern look in the past few weeks. When you enter, you immediately experience the openness and space. Your gaze wanders freely over the cosy bread corner, the refrigerated cabinet with cheese and cold cuts, cut and packed on site, and the fruit and vegetable tables. "We have really taken care of everything," Frie says. "Modern cash registers, a new floor, a better organisation, new refrigerated and bread cabinets ... I am especially proud of our broad range of ready meals, salads and snacks, which are prepared on site every day. Ideal for customers who do not have time to cook and wish to eat a healthy and delicious meal."

Focus on sustainability

Spar Paal was sustainably renovated. The refrigeration system runs on the much environment-friendlier coolant CO2 and the heat released is recovered. This results in minimum energy consumption and a lower emission of greenhouse gases. "The cosy atmosphere in our store is also thanks to clever lighting. We are using LED lights which are extra energy-saving," Frie Voeten adds.

Service with a smile

The biggest asset of Spar Paal is undoubtedly the friendly and thoughtful service. The team consists of 9 people, who are ready every day to welcome their customers personally and to serve them with a smile. Now and then, student workers come and help them and enjoy learning the retail trade in their own area.

Festive reopening

"Spar Paal is in the village centre, in the shadow of the church," Frie tells us. "Fortunately, there is a large car park on the square in front of our store, so people can reach us by car too." The renovated Spar Paal will be reopened festively on 3 June and there will be many interesting actions for the customers. All corona measures in force will of course be complied with.

"I am looking forward to welcoming our regular and new customers and to hearing their reactions," Frie Voeten concludes. "I am sure they will immediately feel at home in our renovated store."
