Renewed Spar Kortrijk reopens on Thursday 4 November

On Thursday 4 October, the revamped Spar Colruyt Group store in Kortrijk opens again after 2 weeks of renovation work. The outdated building was completely demolished to make way for a modern, sustainable supermarket with a larger sales area and a large car park. The store was organised in the style of the new generation of Spar neighbourhood supermarkets and was also provided with an on-the-go unit with quick snacks and ready-to-eat meals. Independent entrepreneurs Delphine and Marijn and their team welcome local residents for a festive opening.

Family business

Delphine, self-employed entrepreneur of Spar Kortrijk, took over the shop five years ago and immediately had big plans. She convinced her brother Marijn to join her in the business. A reinforcement she could use well. Delphine: "The store has existed for 25 years and the interior has been renovated several times over the years. It was an old building and therefore the possibilities for expansion were limited. That's why we decided to make room for a brand new building with a surface of 1.140m². The store is now almost double the size it used to be." The entrance is moved as well and customers can now park their cars in a renewed car park that holds more than 100 places.

On-the-go unit

In the revamped bakery you will find high-quality rolls, baguettes and pastries that the co-workers, among who a real baker, leave to rise and bake in a rotary oven on the spot. At Spar Kortrijk you can also choose from a wide assortment of home-made dishes and fresh meat that is cut and packaged in their own butcher's shop. Everything is self-service, so customers won't have to wait in line. Delphine and Marijn also continue to focus on regional products such as beers, mushrooms, eggs, buttermilk and butter. A nice eye-catcher is the new on-the-go unit, that allows customers to choose a quick lunch or snack.

Focus on sustainability

Spar Kortrijk has been renovated sustainably. The refrigeration system runs on a much environment-friendlier coolant and the heat released is recovered. This results in minimum energy consumption and a lower emission of greenhouse gases.

Service with a smile

The biggest asset of Spar Kortrijk is undoubtedly the friendly and thoughtful service. Delphine and Marijn are assisted by a loyal team of 12 permanent co-workers, student workers and flexi-jobbers, all coming from the region. Every day, the team will be ready to welcome the customers personally and help them with a smile.

Festive opening

Especially for the opening, Delphine and Marijn organise a festive reception. All local residents are welcome on Wednesday 3 November between 4.30 and 6 pm.
