Opening of Colruyt Éghezée: a new store with a focus on sustainability
Thursday, April 10, 2025
On Wednesday 16 April 2025, a brand-new Colruyt Lowest Prices store will open its doors on Chaussée de Namur in Éghezée. From now on, residents of Éghezée will find a wide range of quality products close to home – always at the lowest prices. The building has been designed to make shopping as efficient as possible. In addition to a wide selection of fresh and frozen products, the store also features a modern butcher's counter and a newly designed bread section. During construction, special attention was paid to sustainability.
Designed for a unique shopping experience
At the new Colruyt Lowest Prices store in Éghezée, customers can shop comfortably and efficiently thanks to an optimised store layout spread covering 1,244 m². Shoppers will find a broad range of quality products from leading brands, as well as our private labels Boni and Everyday – always for the lowest prices. Store manager Vincent Ooms explains: “Our butcher’s section is of the latest generation and equipped with transparent, closed refrigerators. This allows us to offer high-quality fresh meat and charcuterie. Thanks to the open workshop, customers can see our butchers at work and speak to them directly if they have any questions.” Also worth discovering is the modern bread stand with daily fresh-baked and pre-packaged bread.
Extra focus on sustainability
The new store also meets Colruyt Group’s sustainability requirements. The store has been fully equipped with smart energy management systems: solar panels on the roof generate green energy, and rainwater is collected to flush the toilets. All refrigerated units use the natural refrigerant propane – a natural gas with virtually no emissions – which reduces the store’s CO₂ footprint by 90%. The entire store features energy-efficient LED lighting with motion sensors, helping to save up to 30% on energy consumption. The building is more insulated than legally required, resulting in an excellent energy balance. The car park offers 90 spaces and is equipped with two charging stations for four electric vehicles. There are also 10 extra-large bicycle racks where (cargo) bikes can be safely and easily secured.
Open evening on Tuesday 15 April
Store manager Vincent Ooms explains: “Our team of 19 co-workers is looking forward to welcoming customers. We warmly invite everyone to come and discover the new store during our open evening on Tuesday 15 April from 5 to 8 p.m. See you then!"
