Opening of a brand-new Colruyt in Couvin: a functional and sustainable store

On Wednesday April 30, 2025, a new Colruyt Lowest Prices store will open its doors at Rue de la Gare in Couvin. Local residents will be able to find a wide range of quality products at the lowest prices, all just a stone's throw from their homes. The building has been designed to guarantee customers the best possible shopping experience. Besides a broad range of fresh and frozen products, the store features a state-of-the-art butcher's department, a modern bread cabinet and a Collect&Go collection point. During construction, particular attention was paid to the sustainability of the infrastructure.

A store designed to offer a unique shopping experience

In the new Colruyt Lowest Prices store in Couvin, which covers 1 435 m² of retail space, customers can choose from a very wide range of quality products, both major brands and private-label products, and always at the best prices. The store floor plan is designed to make the shopping experience as pleasant and efficient as possible. Store manager Olivier Mathot explains: "Our new-generation butcher's department is equipped with closed, see-through refrigerators. You'll find quality fresh meat and a full range of cold cuts. What's more, thanks to the open workshop, customers can see our qualified butchers at work, making it easy for them to ask questions or place special orders." The modern bread cabinet offering fresh and pre-packed bread is also worth checking out.

Welcome to Collect&Go

In Couvin, too, customers can visit the Collect&Go pick-up point, Colruyt Group's online shopping service. They send their shopping list via the Xtra app or the collectandgo.be website, and employees prepare their order at the pick-up point for the chosen time.

Special focus on sustainability

The design of the Florennes building focuses on one of Colruyt Group's key values: sustainability. This low-energy store uses no fossil fuels and relies on intelligent energy management, while rainwater is recovered and used for toilet flushing. The building also features a heat recovery system for the heat produced by the refrigerators. What’s more, this system uses propane as its refrigerant, reducing the carbon footprint by almost 90%. Thanks to motion detectors, economic LED lighting only switches on when necessary, saving a further 30% in energy. The store has therefore received an excellent energy rating. The 61-space car park also has 2 extra-wide storage bays for 4 bikes or cargo bikes.

Open evening on Tuesday 29 April

Store manager Olivier Mathot concludes: “Along with my team of 16 store co-workers and 5 butchers, I am looking forward to welcoming our customers. We're inviting them to a sneak preview of the refurbished store at our open evening on Tuesday 29 April, from 17 pm to 20 pm. Everyone is welcome!”
