Opening Colruyt Tienen (Beauduinstraat): new store with a focus on sustainability

On Wednesday, 9 October 2024, a new Colruyt Lowest Prices store will open on Beauduinstraat in Deurne. Colruyt has transformed former store premises into a Colruyt store that provides a pleasant and efficient shopping experience. So from now on, residents from Tienen can find a broad range of high-quality products at the lowest prices on the other side of the city as well.

1300 m² of lowest prices

Shopping in the new Colruyt Tienen on Beauduinstraat is enjoyable and efficient thanks to the optimised shopping route that covers no less than 1,300 m2 of retail space. Store manager Luc Moers: “We offer a wide range of quality products from major brands but also from our own house brands Boni and Everyday. Customers will find products such as fruit and vegetables, fish, dairy, vegetarian options, and ready-to-eat meals in our spacious fresh market.”

There is also an extensive choice of pre-packaged fresh meat and cold cuts in the self-service butcher’s counter. Gert Keyen, in charge of the butcher's counter: “The open workshop makes it easy for customers to approach us with questions or for special orders. Our team is ready to offer customers personal assistance and advice."

Sustainability all the way

The entire store in Tienen has energy-efficient LED lights that work using a sensor, meaning they save up to 30% energy. The residual heat from the cooling system is recovered and as much as 75% of the heat is reused by the ventilation system. Colruyt aims to utilise all these measures to optimise its energy consumption and reduce its carbon footprint.

Rainwater is used to clean and to flush the toilets.

The four charging stations allow customers driving an electric car to recharge while shopping.

Colruyt Group unveils a brand-new scheme: families who train at Jims build up credit towards their fruit and veg at Colruyt

With the new Move & Save membership, Colruyt Meilleurs Prix and Jims combine physical activity and healthy eating in a single integrated package. For €14.99 a week, a family of up to three people can train as often as they like at Jims. If the family completes three training sessions during the week, they will receive €5 in Xtra shopping credit to spend on fresh fruit and vegetables. The scheme will launch on 15 September at Jims clubs in Ghent Rooigem, Hasselt and Nivelles, and the credit will be valid in all Colruyt stores. With this first-of-its-kind initiative in the Belgian retail landscape, Colruyt Group is confirming its ambition to continue growing as a food & health retailer.
