On Friday 14 November, Okay will open a brand-new store in Gullegem, West Flanders. At the practical local supermarket on Kerselarenlaan 21, customers will find an extensive range of products, always at the lowest prices in the area. The new Okay store covers 670 m² and has been built using sustainable techniques and materials. Store manager Wouter Stroobant and his team are looking forward to welcoming their new customers. Very convenient: the store is also open on Sunday mornings, from 8 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. From 2026 onwards, all Okay stores will be open on Sunday mornings.
This local supermarket is part of the newest generation of Okay stores by Colruyt Group. In the bright, modern Okay shop, customers can easily find everything they need under one roof: from meat, fish, vegetarian products, fresh fruits and vegetables to ready meals and meal salads. Customers will also find other groceries, beverages, laundry and household products, newspapers, magazines, gift hampers ... The new Gullegem store is also open on Sunday mornings and is the first Okay in the region to feature a Collect&Go collection point.
Fresh products are one of Okay's greatest strengths. “In our Freshmart, the wide aisles and glass wall ensure a comfortable and enjoyable shopping experience. It's easy to choose from our wide range of fruits and vegetables, always fresh and replenished daily. Just outside the freshmart, you'll find a chilled tapas cabinet with everything for a perfect aperitif evening: meat, fish or vegetarian. We have snacks to suit every taste," says store manager Wouter.
At Okay Gullegem, the store team bakes fresh, high-quality bread, pastries and rolls several times a day. All of these can be found in the clearly laid-out bread corner. “In the frozen section, customers can easily find their favourite products thanks to our energy-efficient freezers with glass lids,” Wouter adds.
As always, Okay guarantees the lowest grocery prices in the neighbourhood. With the Xtra app, customers also enjoy additional promotions automatically when scanning their Xtra app at the checkout.
Like all other Colruyt Group store formats, Okay places a strong emphasis on sustainability and minimising environmental impact. "The new store in Gullegem runs entirely on green energy: we doo't use any gas or fuel oil here and we generate our energy through solar panels," Wouter explains. "What's more, our eco-friendly refrigeration system emits 90% less CO2 than a traditional installation." The heat released from the cooling and ventilation system is recovered and reused to heat the store."
The new Okay store is located in Kerselarenlaan, very conveniently located between the R8 exit and the village centre. The easily accessible car park provides space for 48 cars and includes several DATS 24 charging points for electric vehicles. Customers arriving by bicycle can use the spacious bike parking area.
The grand opening of Okay Gullegem will take place on 14 and 15 November. During these two days, customers can enjoy tastings galore and fantastic opening discounts.
