Newpharma equips new distribution centre with Scallog's Goods-To-Man technology
Newpharma will be inaugurating its new distribution centre in Wandre soon. The centre has a floor area of 20,000 m², which, in time, can be extended to 50,000 m². This state-of-the-art warehouse will be equipped with technology developed by Scallog, the French specialist in robotics solutions. The new installation will be integrated by Smart Technics and will be put into use this autumn. A successful collaboration between three companies that are part of Colruyt Group.

Newpharma is consolidating its activities in Wandre (Liège). The brand-new logistics centre located on a site near the Port of Liege, will be operational shortly. The project was launched in 2019 and is supported by Colruyt Group. Pierre De Lit, COO at Newpharma: "Each year, Newpharma records double-digit revenue growth, which, over time, has forced us to spread our activities across several sites in Wandre and Tongeren. We have therefore decided to build one large distribution centre to support our further growth and optimise our logistics flows. We will gradually put the new installations into operation. In a first phase the site will cover 20,000 m². In 2024, we will expand the site to 50,000 m².”
The consolidation of Newpharma's activities is accompanied by extensive automation, supported by Smart Technics. The mission of the engineering team of this Colruyt Group start-up is to integrate innovative solutions in a sustainable way. Jeroen Theys, Managing Director at Smart Technics: "In this project, we integrated the Scallog solution into Newpharma's operational flow, from the delivery of the goods by suppliers to the dispatching of the packages to end customers. Several options were considered each time to optimise stock management, order processing, order picking, packaging and ergonomics for the employees. We are very satisfied with the collaboration, which has resulted in a phased plan that will enable Newpharma to respond more flexibly to future market developments and secure further sustainable growth."
"Scallog is already active in this sector in France. We are particularly pleased that we can equip the new Newpharma warehouse in close cooperation with Smart Technics today. This means that yet another Scallog picking facility will be operational in Belgium," Caroline Dumas, International Business Manager at Scallog, adds.

About Smart Technics
Smart Technics is an innovative start-up within Colruyt Group that lives by the motto: from inspiration to implementation. The team provides a broad spectrum of services, ranging from engineering, project management, design and implementation of technological solutions, both for the store environment, logistics centres and production activities. The 35-member team mainly consists of engineers and software developers specialised in consultancy, project management, design and optimisation of existing infrastructures and in the start-up of new logistics centres.
Founded in 2013, French company Scallog develops, manufactures and sells logistics robots aimed at increasing the flexibility and productivity of the warehouses of players in 3PL, e-commerce, distribution and industry. In light of the changing expectations of B-to-C and B-to-B customers, particularly in terms of product availability and delivery, Scallog's solution enables companies to pick their orders faster and absorb workload peaks better. At the same time, the work becomes less burdensome and the need for investment decreases. The "Goods-To-Man" range combines the best of "intelligent" decision-making and execution software and of mobile robotics to meet the demand of the logistics sector for more flexibility in order picking and for a higher level of automation in their warehouses. With more than 30 references to its name and a significant amount of funds raised, Scallog, a leader in scalable and flexible logistics robotics, now wants to accelerate its growth in Europe and beyond.
