New Spar Colruyt Group store opens on Thursday 8 October in Sleidinge

On Thursday 8 October, a new Spar Colruyt Group store will open its doors in Sleidinge. The neighbourhood supermarket on Polenstraat has been fully refurbished in Spar style, with a strong focus on fresh and locally sourced products. The store will be open seven days a week. Store manager Annelies Baert brings 16 years of experience from Okay, another Colruyt Group retail brand. Customers will be welcomed at a reception on Wednesday 7 October and a tasting weekend on 10 and 11 October.

Spar Sleidinge combines the personal touch of a neighbourhood store with a wide product range, attractive promotions and a strong focus on fresh produce. Customers can quickly pick up their daily essentials while still having the time to browse at their own pace and find inspiration.

"For us, it was important to create a genuine neighbourhood store where everyone feels at home. We want to stay close to our customers and be a place where people enjoy coming, not just to do their shopping," says Annelies.

The in-store bakery of Spar Sleidinge is one of the store's eye-catchers. Customers are welcomed by the scent of freshly baked bread and pastries as soon as they walk through the door.

Combined with the fresh food department and the personal service provided by the team, the bakery is one of the highlights of this store.

By offering an extensive range from local producers, Spar enables customers to discover local flavours while helping to support entrepreneurs from the region.

A local team, close to its customers

The store's nine permanent employees, who know the local area well, are supported by several flexi-jobbers and student workers, ensuring a close relationship with customers.

Sustainable and energy-efficient

Sustainability was also a key consideration in the development of the new store. Spar Sleidinge opted for modern, energy-efficient refrigeration installations and LED lighting.

Festive opening

On Wednesday 7 October, Spar Sleidinge will launch this exciting new chapter with a welcoming reception. On Thursday 8 October, the store will officially open its doors to customers. There will be plenty to enjoy and sample during the opening weekend. Visitors can take part in a competition with attractive prizes and benefit from a range of special opening promotions.

Following a successful summer, the Belgian Bel’Mer mussel season is coming to an end. With a harvest of more than 100 tonnes, Colruyt Group looks back with satisfaction on the 2026 season. Belgian mussels have been available since 2 July at Colruyt, Okay, Spar and a number of hospitality venues along the Belgian coast. The coming months will be dedicated to preparing for the next season and to developing a fully Belgian mussel value chain. The last mussels are currently being harvested and will remain available until 7 October.
