New Spar Colruyt Group store in Lanklaar opens on 11 September
Fifth store for family business – and this time, on familiar ground
On Thursday 11 September, a brand-new Spar Colruyt Group store will open its doors in the heart of Lanklaar. It will be the fifth Spar branch run by Cihan’s family and by far the most symbolic: “We’re from Lanklaar. When the Delhaize here closed in 2023, I knew: this will be our next Spar.”
A warm family story
Cihan’s father opened his first Spar in Eindhout in 2005, exactly 20 years ago. That store is now run by Cihan’s sister and brother-in-law. Other stores followed in Olen, Winterslag and Kaulille, under Cihan’s management. With the youngest brother now joining the team and a new store opening in their hometown, the family is taking its next step.
“It’s no coincidence we’re from Lanklaar,” says Cihan. “Opening our new store here is a personal choice. We want to be the store we ourselves have been missing here for years.”
Fresh, local and family-run
Spar Lanklaar will be a welcoming neighbourhood supermarket with three clear strengths: fresh, local and family-driven. Customers will find an artisan butcher’s counter and an in-house deli offering freshly prepared meals daily. The bakery section will be a highlight, with freshly baked rolls and crisp baguettes straight from the oven.
The store will focus strongly on local ties, both in its product range and team. All employees live in or near Lanklaar, so customers will always be greeted by familiar faces. “Lanklaar’s store, for Lanklaar: that’s our vision.”
Comfortable shopping
The store is open every day from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and until 5 p.m. on Sundays. Alongside the wide range of fresh and local products, all the daily grocery essentials are available. Thanks to its modern layout and spacious car park with nearly 100 spaces, shopping here will be a true pleasure.
Built with sustainability in mind
Sustainability has been taken to heart. The store uses energy-efficient LED lighting and a CO₂-based refrigeration system. Heating is provided entirely through heat recovery, with no gas usage whatsoever. Over 200 solar panels on the roof contribute significantly to the store’s own energy needs.
Grand opening
The festive opening on 11 September will treat customers to a welcoming reception, major promotional deals, and a big prize competition. More fun in-store contests will follow in the weeks after.
