A new Spar Colruyt Group is to open up in Wiekevorst on Thursday 15 June. This modern neighbourhood supermarket in the Lindestraat is fully furnished in the style of the latest generation of Spar stores. With a passion for fresh, local and sustainable produce, managers Steven Stouten, Tim Anthonis and Lorenzo Callens are looking forward to giving Wiekevorst and the surrounding area a taste of excellent customer service, a pleasant shopping experience and the well-known Spar quality.
Ideal location
Anyone in the Wiekevorst area who wants to enjoy tasty fresh produce and pleasant shopping can visit the brand new Spar Wiekevorst at Lindestraat 5 from Thursday 15 June. The former factory hall of Bouwmaterialen Van Craen was transformed into a spacious, modern neighbourhood store with a large and easily accessible car park. "A perfect location too. We had known for some time that the people of Wiekevorst would readily welcome a full-scale neighbourhood store," says Steven Stouten, who, together with business partners Tim Anthonis and Lorenzo Callens, will now run this new outlet in Wiekevorst in addition to the successful Spar Colruyt Group shops in Kessel, Schriek and Lier. "Lorenzo, who has been with us for a while and gained experience as a co-manager at Spar Lier in recent months, will be in charge at Wiekevorst. A dedicated and talented guy with the right skills. Our new store is definitely in good hands."
A heart for fresh and local
Like in the other branches run by this entrepreneurial trio, quality and freshness also always come first in Spar Wiekevorst. "Fresh is indeed one of our strengths," Tim adds. "It goes without saying that here in Wiekevorst, too, we emphasise top-quality meat, tasty cold meats and cheese, tasty prepared dishes and a wide range of fresh fruit and vegetables. With a focus on local delicacies too. The bread assortment is supplied fresh every day by Het Broodhuys, a local artisan bakery. We also work with a local supplier for our ice cream and desserts: De Witte Lelie."
Focus on sustainability
Just like the other Colruyt Group store formulas, Spar also focuses on sustainable constructions, with the lowest possible environmental impact. The new store in Wiekevorst was also built and equipped with great attention to sustainability. The entire shop is equipped with energy-efficient LED lighting and the brand new refrigeration system has CO2 emissions that are 90 % lower than traditional refrigeration systems. "In the future, we will more than likely also install solar panels," Steven adds.
Festive opening
To shop groceries, people have to wait until Thursday 15 June, but on Wednesday 14 June from 18:00 to 21:00, everyone is already welcome to attend the festive opening reception. Customers can explore the new store while enjoying some fries and stew, ice cream and a drink. In the opening week, lots of great discounts can be scored at Spar Wiekevorst. In addition, there is also a special 'Crack the Safe' promotion where customers can win great prizes.
