New Colruyt store opens in Bouwel

Built with a strong focus on sustainability

Sunday, March 1, 2026

On Wednesday 4 March 2026, Colruyt will open a brand-new Colruyt store next to Comarkt on Lierse Steenweg in Bouwel, where customers can do their shopping at the lowest prices. Within the extensive range, customers will find a wide selection of fresh quality products in the fresh market. Customers can still collect or have their groceries delivered via Collect&Go, Colruyt Group’s online grocery service. Moreover, customers will continue to be welcomed by the familiar faces of the former Comarkt staff.

1,700 m² of lowest prices

The new Colruyt store has a sales area of more than 1,700 m². Store manager Christof Imbrechts looks forward to welcoming customers and helping them find their way:“Thanks to our large store, my colleagues and I can offer an extensive range of quality products at the lowest prices, with a choice between major brands and private labels. We warmly invite Comarkt customers to discover our refrigerated fresh market. It is the place to be for fresh products such as fruit and vegetables, fish, dairy, veggie options and ready-to-eat meals. Thanks to the optimal layout, customers can shop in a pleasant and efficient way.

Colruyt Bouwel ensures customers can find everything under one roof, from freshly baked bread and a wide range of fresh quality meat to ready-made meals. “Our butchers work in an open workshop and are therefore easy to approach. Feel free to speak to them if you would like to place a specific order or need a portion tailored to your needs,” adds head butcher Jan Van Rompaey.

Smart checkout system

All checkouts at Colruyt Bouwel are equipped with an "easy checkout", an innovative checkout system using artificial intelligence. A camera above each checkout automatically scans products while they are transferred from one trolley to another. This results in a faster checkout process and a more ergonomic working environment for employees. With this technology, Colruyt invests in smart innovations that improve customer comfort and make work more efficient and pleasant for staff.

Collect or home delivery via Collect&Go

Customers who prefer an even more efficient way to shop can reserve their groceries via Collect&Go, Colruyt Group’s online grocery service. Colruyt Bouwel offers two options: customers can either collect their groceries from the pick-up point at the store or opt for home delivery. Drivers, private delivery partners from the local area, take care of deliveries and can earn extra income.

Extra focus on sustainability

The new Colruyt store in Bouwel meets all Colruyt Group sustainability requirements, with particular attention to energy efficiency in insulation, ventilation, lighting, cooling and heating. The store recovers heat generated by refrigeration and produces its own energy via solar panels. Rainwater is collected and reused for cleaning, which also reduces pressure on the sewer system. Thanks to energy-efficient LED lighting with sensors, the store saves up to 30% in energy. There are five charging points for electric vehicles, three of which are fast chargers.

Kom dus zeker onze winkel ontdekken!”
