Jemeppe-sur-Sambre: Colruyt expands and hires 9 new employees

The Jemeppe-sur-Sambre Colruyt store will reopen on 16th December after a major renovation. The supermarket has been renovated and expanded by 300 m², and 9 new employees have been hired. February will see the arrival of a Dreamland outlet, Colruyt Group’s brand specialised in the world of toys, multimedia products and seasonal goods.

Enjoy wider choice when you shop

The renovated Colruyt store in Jemeppe-sur-Sambre spreads over 2,300 m² (compared with 2,000 m² previously). As store Manager Étienne Scohy explains: “A larger store means a wider choice of chilled and frozen goods, among others, with the addition of more chest freezers. 12 checkouts will give our customers the smoothest shopping experience possible.”

Head Butcher Julien Coudeville: “For their fresh meat, customers will find a revamped self-service butchery counter. They’ll be able to see our butchers at work in an open workshop, allowing them to easily place their bespoke orders or ask for advice.”

During the renovation period, the Colruyt store, Collect&Go and Dats24 remained open to provide customers the services they needed.

Strengthening the dream team

For the last few years, Colryut has worked hard to position itself as a major employment provider. The recent hiring of 9 new employees, including 3 at the butchery counter, is further proof of this.

A new Dreamland outlet enhances the site

Earmarked for opening in February 2021, a Dreamland shop will also be added to the site, where customers will discover a wide array of toys, multimedia products, school supplies, books and comics, as well as other present ideas for the whole family.

Sustainable store with a green façade

The Jemeppe-sur-Sambre Colryut is committed to sustainable development. Fitted with solar panels, it features a sustainable storefront built using grilles from the old store (to avoid unnecessary waste and contribute to the circular economy), on which biodiversity-friendly plants are grown. The car park is also equipped with a charge point for electric vehicles.

A safe shopping experience

In light of the current pandemic, store-launch open evenings will not take place. Store Manager: “Come discover your new Colruyt and you’ll get a little welcome present. The entire team and I are looking forward to providing a 100% safe welcome. We’d also ask you to come to the store individually, in line with government regulations.”
