Improved Spar Wolvertem to reopen on 26 September

On Thursday 26 September, Spar Colruyt Group Wolvertem will open its doors once again. The store on Godshuisstraat has undergone a complete overhaul. With a new interior and exterior inspired by the latest-generation Spar stores, Spar Wolvertem can now fully focus on sustainability, freshness and local products.Entrepreneurs - and sisters - Katleen and Carolien Collier, along with their dedicated team, are looking forward to welcoming their customers in the improved store.

A real family business

The Spar in Wolvertem has been run by Katleen and Carolien Collier for eight years. Two sisters with a passion for entrepreneurship and a nose for excellent local products. “The store was in need of renovation,” Carolien says. “With these alterations we want to offer our customers an even better shopping experience.”

The team at Spar Wolvertem is made up of eight permanent staff members, with regular support from student workers and flexi-workers.

Drastic changes

Katleen, Carolien and the Spar team are happy to welcome their customers back to the friendly neighbourhood store after four weeks of renovations. A renovation that is immediately noticeable from the outside too. The car park has been redone and the facade has been given a nice facelift. Spar Wolvertem now has a modern look in line with the other stores in the Spar formula.

Changes have also been made in terms of shopping convenience. The bakery is bigger now and has been moved to the front of the store. Customers can pop in for fresh bread every day, as well as crusty rolls and baguettes from dough risen in store.

A focus on fresh and local products

The improved Spar Wolvertem puts a strong focus on fresh products, with the butcher's section and extended catering department being particular eye-catchers. “Our catering department now stocks even more delicious dishes. All you have to do at home is warm them up. Handy if you don’t have time or don’t fancy cooking,” says Katleen.

Lovers of local products will also want to shop at Spar Wolvertem. “Our store always offers a wide range of products from our own region. Flowers and plants, as well as desserts and soil-grown chicory,” Carolien says.

Open earlier on Sundays and holidays

The store in Wolvertem is open all week, just as it was before the temporary closure. On Mondays from 13:00 to 19:00, Tuesdays to Fridays from 08:00 to 19:00, and on Saturday from 08:00 to 18:00. On Sundays and public holidays, the store will open 30 minutes earlier. “You can come and get your fresh bread, fresh crusty rolls and sweet pastries from half past seven,” Caroline says, with a smile.

Sustainability first

Sustainability is a key focus at Spar Colruyt Group. It is something the people at Spar Wolvertem also feel strongly about. “We carried out our renovations with respect for our environment. All in line with the latest energy standards and keeping sustainability in mind,” Caroline explains. For example, they invested in sustainable carbon cooling and LED lighting. The installation of solar panels is still on the agenda too at Spar Wolvertem. Those who come shopping by electric car can use one of the charging stations to recharge.

Festive opening

Shopping will have to wait until Thursday 26 September, but everyone is welcome at the festive opening reception on Wednesday 25 September between 18:00 and 21:00. Customers can explore the new store while enjoying snacks and drinks. What’s more, there are some amazing opening-week discounts in the special opening folder.
