Colruyt Group Academy opens 42 kitchens for charitable initiatives across Belgium

Year after year, De Warmste Week (VRT) and Viva for Life (RTBF) succeed in creating a wave of solidarity that sweeps across the whole country. People come together, support one another and bring extra warmth to our society. Colruyt Group Academy (CGA) also wants to give that spirit an extra boost. That is why, on Sunday 29 November, CGA is opening the 42 kitchens across its 10 Academies, spread throughout the country, completely free of charge to anyone who wants to cook or bake for charity: associations, youth groups, groups of friends or individual bakers with a kind heart. Booking a spot is possible from now on.

Getting involved for a good cause

Every year, De Warmste Week and Viva for Life bring people closer together. It is the moment when the whole of Belgium springs into action and comes together for one another. The impressive level of involvement each year, with people raising money for charity through all sorts of initiatives, shows just how strong a sense of solidarity is across the whole country, from north to south. And that is exactly where Colruyt Group Academy wants to – and can – make a difference.

Colruyt Group Academy opens its kitchens to ‘Warmest’ organisations

On 29 November, Colruyt Group Academy is opening its own kitchens free of charge to associations, youth groups, groups of friends or individual bakers with a kind heart. They decide for themselves what activity – cooking soup, baking granola, making waffles, etc. – they want to organise and which charity they want to support. They bring their own ingredients. Colruyt Group Academy provides fully equipped and spacious kitchens. Each kitchen can accommodate over 20 people, is equipped with four hobs and six ovens, and all the necessary equipment.

A total of 42 cooking stations will be available that day, spread across ten Academy locations: Grimbergen, Hasselt, Liège, Oostkamp, Haasrode, Jambes, Merelbeke-Melle, Halle, Kortrijk and Uccle. Participants can choose between a morning or afternoon session, each lasting 4 hours, and will have access to fully equipped kitchens. Bookings can now be made via the Colruyt Group Academy website.

De Warmste Week / Viva For Life and Colruyt Group Academy share the same mission

Every day, Colruyt Group Academy is committed to helping people grow, bringing people together and creating a positive impact. That is exactly what De Warmste Week / Viva For Life stands for too. Barbara Van Schaeren of Colruyt Group Academy explains:“That’s why taking part in this campaign feels so natural: it fits seamlessly with who we are and what we aim to achieve as an Academy. We strongly believe in a warm and caring society, where people find one another, support one another and strengthen one another. By running a campaign for De Warmste Week / Viva For Life, we are putting that belief into practice. We demonstrate that connection is not just something we facilitate in our workshops, but also something we actively build as a team ourselves – both within and beyond our own walls.’

By taking part, CGA contributes to greater human warmth, care and solidarity in society, whilst creating opportunities to bring colleagues closer together, foster engagement and boost pride.
