Brand-new Colruyt store in Zonhoven, twice as large with twice as many parking spots

On Wednesday 29 July, a brand-new Colruyt store opens along the Heuveneindeweg in Zonhoven. The store is twice as large as before. It has a new Collect&Go pick-up point, recruits 6 extra employees and offers its customers an even broader product range. Parking will also be easy with twice as many parking spots. This low-energy store has solar panels and a charging point for electric cars.

Broad product range on 2062 m²

The former Colruyt store in Zonhoven had become too old and too small to shop comfortably. Store manager Erwin Bergen: "It was high time for a larger store in Zonhoven. Since the store surface has become twice as large, we can offer a broader range of products now. The previous Colruyt store surface was 1000 m² and it has become as much as 2062 m²."

The new car park is also twice as large as before and includes 148 parking spots. Along the store's street side, a few houses were built so the store fits in perfectly with the municipal character of Zonhoven.

6 extra checkouts and 6 extra employees

Of course, a larger store needs more checkouts and more employees to help the customer in the best way we can. Store manager Erwin Bergen: "We have 6 more checkouts now, so 10 in all. And we recruit 5 new colleagues for the store and 1 for the butcher's department. It remains a self-service butcher's department. This means customers can choose from a wide range, but they can also ask the butchers questions or advice and the butchers can make customised packages for our customers."

Low-energy store

In this store, Colruyt goes all out again for sustainability: the low-energy store has solar panels and does not use any fossil fuels. Customers of the store in Zonhoven can recharge their electric car at the new charging point on the large car park.

New Collect&Go pick-up point

A big difference with the old Colruyt store is that Zonhoven now also has a Collect&Go pick-up point. Store manager Erwin Bergen: "For people who do not have time to shop in our new store, we now have a Collect&Go pick-up point. Collect&Go is Colruyt Group's online shopping service. Customers send their shopping list to collectandgo.be or via the app, and the Collect&Go employees have their products ready at the pick-up point on the day and time of their choice.”
