Brand-new Colruyt store in Sint-Denijs-Westrem creates 40 new jobs

Complete assortment on nearly 1,700 m²

The new Colruyt store is located along Kortrijksesteenweg in Sint-Denijs-Westrem and easy to reach.
​ "We want to make sure our customer can shop pleasantly and smoothly", says store manager Bruno Cnudde. "This begins with an accessible store and a sufficiently large car park with 128 places. It is partly covered so customers can stay dry to load their shopping in their car even when it rains. The store has a surface of 1,695 m². Customers can find a broad range of products in each department, national brands as well as the familiar private labels Boni Selection and Everyday. And 9 check-outs ensure a fluent service."

Butcher's department with open workshop

Customers can choose their fresh quality meat in the self-service butcher's counters. Head butcher Patrick Wandels: "Customers can see the butchers at work in an open workshop and talk to them if they have questions or a special order. They also have a nice overview of the range of meat, cold cuts and salads.”

Electronic price labels

In the new Colruyt store, prices are mentioned on electronic labels. "They offer quite a few advantages", says the store manager. "With this new system, we can react to price changes at our competitors much faster. It is also better for the environment than paper labels: every year, we save a lot of transport and 75 million labels or 90 tonnes of paper. They are also energy-efficient since they only consume energy while a price is adapted. And we save time we can use to put products on the shelves for instance."

40 new jobs

The new store also brings extra employment. "We are still looking for new colleagues", says the store manager. "Indeed, in Colruyt Sint-Denijs-Westrem 40 new employees can start to work: 33 in the store and 7 in the butcher's department. They will put their best foot forward to serve our customers every day."

Collect&Go shops for the customers

There is a Collect&Go pick-up point on the covered car park. "Collect&Go is a handy Colruyt Group service where we shop for the customers", says the store manager. "They send their shopping list to collectandgo.be or via the app, and the Collect&Go employees have their products ready at the pick-up point on the day and time of their choice.”

Low-energy store: 4 % less CO₂

Colruyt Sint-Denijs-Westrem is a low-energy store with optimum insulation in the front and roof. It is also hermetically finished. The store is equipped with sustainable technology such as a refrigeration system with propene, heat recovery from the ventilation and the refrigeration system; etc. Bruno Cnudde: "This project is part of a more comprehensive renovation plan: by 2029, all Colruyt Group stores should be low-energy stores. The group's CO₂ emissions have to go down by 4 %."

Special open evening with the mayor

Store manager Bruno Cnudde, head butcher Patrick Wandels and their 38 employees are looking forward to welcoming their customers at the revamped Colruyt Sint-Denijs-Westrem as of Wednesday 19 June.
​ Bruno Cnudde: "The evening before, on Tuesday 18 june from 5 to 8 p.m., everyone is invited for a store preview. During this special open evening, attended by mayor Mathias De Clercq, we will gladly offer our customers a snack and a drink. Everyone is most welcome!"
