Brand-new Colruyt store in Hechtel-Eksel provides 26 new jobs

On Wednesday 3 April, a brandnew Colruyt store opens its doors along Peerderbaan in Hechtel-Eksel. By opening its 241st store, Colruyt creates 26 new jobs. Moreover, Colruyt Hechtel-Eksel is a low-energy store with optimal insulation and ventilation.

Complete product range on 1,600 m²

The new Colruyt store is located along the road connecting Leopoldsburg and Peer, so it is easily accessible. "We want to make sure our customers can shop pleasantly and smoothly", says store manager Dirk Bessemans. "This begins with an accessible store and a sufficiently large car park with 131 places. The store has a surface of 1,611 m². Customers can find a broad range of products in each department, national brands as well as the familiar private labels Boni Selection and Everyday. And 8 check-outs ensure a fluent service."

Butcher's department with open workshop

Customers can choose their fresh quality meat in the self-service butcher's counters. Head butcher Marc Busselen: "Customers can see the butchers at work in an open workshop and talk to them if they have questions or a special order. They also have a nice overview of the range of meat, cold cuts and salads.”

26 new jobs

The new store also brings extra employment. "In Colruyt Hechtel-Eksel, 26 co-workers can start to work: 21 in the store and 5 in the butcher's shop", says the store manager. "They will put their best foot forward to serve our customers every day."

Collect&Goshops for the customers

Colruyt Hechtel-Eksel also has a Collect&Go pick-up point. "Collect&Go is a handy Colruyt Group service, where we shop for the customers", says Dirk Bessemans. "They send their shopping list to collectandgo.be or via the app, and the Collect&Go employees have their products ready at the pick-up point on the day and time of their choice."

Refuelling on the same site

The store also has a DATS 24 petrol station. Customers can refuel with high-quality fuels 24/7. The station also has 2 pumps with high calorific CNG (Compressed Natural Gas). Today, CNG is the cleanest and cheapest fossil fuel. DATS 24 is part of Colruyt Group.

Low-energy store: 4 % less CO2

Colruyt Hechtel-Eksel is a low-energy store with optimal insulation in the front and roof. It is also hermetically finished. The store is equipped with sustainable technology such as a refrigeration system with propene, heat recovery from the ventilation and solar panels on the roof. Dirk Bessemans: ”This project is part of a more comprehensive renovation plan: by 2029 all Colruyt stores should be low-energy stores. The group’s CO2 emissions have to go down by 4 %.”
