Brand-new Colruyt Sint-Pieters-Leeuw is 700 m² larger

On Wednesday 20 November, the brand-new Colruyt store in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw opens its doors next to the former store. The supermarket was expanded by half its former size. Customers can now find an even broader range of products in their store. This low-energy store also houses a new butcher's department with self-service and a Collect&Go pick-up point. The large car park has accommodation for electric cars and two-wheelers. Classic cars can refuel at the DATS 24 station at the front of the site.

Complete assortment on 1.900 m²

The former Colruyt store in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw had become too small to shop comfortably. "That is why we built a new one, next to the former store", says store manager Pieter Cornelis. "It is almost 1,900 m² large. A larger store means a larger range of products, in the frozen products department and the fresh market for instance. And 4 additional check-out points - in total we have 10 now - ensure a smooth service."

Butcher's department with open workshop

Customers can choose their fresh quality meat in the self-service butcher's department. Head butcher Brecht Robignon: "Customers can see the butchers at work in an open workshop and talk to them if they have questions or a special order. They also have a nice overview of the range of meat, cold cuts and salads.”

Collect&Go shops for the customers

The new Colruyt store also has a Collect&Go pick-up point now. "Collect&Go is a handy Colruyt Group service where we shop for the customers", store manager Pieter Cornelis says. "They send their shopping list to collectandgo.be or via the app, and the Collect&Go employees have their products ready at the pick-up point by the day and time of their choice."

Sustainable store

Colruyt made a few sustainable choices for this new store. The prices are mentioned on electronic labels. They are energy-efficient and better for the environment than paper labels.
The car park with 191 places (80 more than before) is equipped with a charging point for electric cars. And there are special facilities for bicycles. "More and more people come to the store by bicycle, delivery bicycle or tricycle, or scooter", says the store manager. "For this reason, we use staple racks, a kind of U-shaped metal profile that is ideal to attach several kinds of two-wheelers."

Colruyt Sint-Pieters-Leeuw is also a low-energy store with optimum insulation, ventilation, refrigeration and heating. Pieter Cornelis: "This project is part of a more comprehensive renovation plan: by 2029, all Colruyt Group stores should be low-energy stores. The group's CO2 emissions have to go down by 4%."

"The evening before everyone can come and discover the new store", says the store manager. "During this special open evening in the presence of mayor Luc Deconinck, we will offer our customers a snack and a drink from 5 to 8 pm. Everyone is most welcome!"
